Recent SCIBS was one of the most successful for the Australian motoryacht builder.

Yacht sales revenue for Australia’s Riviera will total over A$300m for the first time in its current fiscal year ending 30 June 2023, the yard says. Sales revenue in the previous fiscal year amounted to some A$233.4m.

The record performance follows one of the most successful editions of the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show (SCIBS) that Riviera has ever experienced.

Owner and chairman, Rodney Longhurst, was quoted by the Cairns Post as saying: “We’ve just enjoyed what was the biggest and best Sanctuary Cove boat show where even I was completely humbled by the interest and international demand.”

Riviera now employs close to 1,000 at its Coomera Gold Coast production facility, increasing from around 300 a decade ago. The number of yachts built each year has risen from 43 to 150 over that period and total sales have increased by over 500% from A$59m to A$314m.

Longhurst recently praised the entire workforce for their teamwork at SCIBS. He told the 900+ employees at a luncheon event: “It required extraordinary teamwork to prepare the largest showcase of new motoryachts at the show: to create an inspiring atmosphere for visitors from across Australia and around the world and to bring to life the boating education on-water workshops, seminars and social events for Riviera’s exclusive owners Festival of Boating during the show.”

He added: “My belief over the past 12 years of ownership has been that through our unity we are smarter and harder-working, and as a result we can create greatness that our yacht owners truly appreciate. And you have done just that – not only in the lead-up to the show and over the four days, but every day you come to work here at Coomera.”

Longhurst explained: “The world premiere of 585 SUV was outstanding and our fleet of 11 Sport Yachts, Sports Motor Yachts, SUVs and flagship Motor Yacht from 11.9m (39ft) to 23.8m (78ft), was the finest we have ever displayed. On the opening day of the show we also announced our next new model that will premiere in late 2023, the magnificent 58 Sports Motor Yacht.”

He told the assembled workforce: “Your combined efforts have made Riviera a world-class luxury boat builder. And it’s everyone here, the laminators, the engineers, electricians and boatbuilders, our receptionists, customer care team and the many people who work behind the scenes to help create our excellence. Every position and every place, you are all a part of what makes Riviera special, that’s what makes it a family for our owners and for us, our team here onsite. This is something that we should all be extremely proud of.”
