Riviera Uses Sentinel Telemetric Monitoring
Riviera has brought together three powerful on-board systems to provide owners with new levels of security and connectivity with their yacht.
Sentinel has been introduced on all new Rivieras to integrate with the CZone and the engine management systems for Volvo Penta or MAN powered yachts.
Riviera’s Production Manager Andy Clayton explains that a simple, intuitive phone app allows owners to remotely access the Sentinel system at any time, from wherever they may be in the world.
“This enables you to monitor a range of critical information about your Riviera, to receive notifications about events onboard and remotely operate selected CZone circuits and modes,” says Andy.
“You can also set various trigger points for system monitoring on your app, so you receive alerts on your mobile if there are any problems onboard.”
The system monitors and displays all battery voltages, bilge pump activation, shore power connection, saloon temperature, tank fluid levels, saloon motion and engine hours.
“Our owners have told us of many occasions where they have received Sentinel notifications from their remotely berthed yachts warning of lost shore power, and they were able to follow this up with their marina manager or captain. Then, as soon as the yacht is reconnected to the shore power, the owner can verify this using the app,” said Andy.
When enabled, the geo-fencing ‘Auto Mode’ function provides an alert to the owner if the boat moves location or in ‘Anchor Mode’, a wider monitoring radius may be set. If the owner is ashore or visiting another boat and the yacht moves outside the radius, Sentinel provides an alert to the owner indicating that the anchor may be dragging.
Sentinel also detects unauthorized access through a Passive Infrared (PIR) motion sensor in the saloon and, when enabled by the owner, sends an alert to their phone and any secondary contact nominated by the owner and programmed into the app.
Combined with CZone, Sentinel allows the yacht owner to remotely monitor and activate selected on-board systems such as lights, air conditioning and refrigeration. This means that, from home, the office or in transit to the yacht, owners can activate the refrigeration and air conditioning onboard and have both ready for when they step on board.
Andy Clayton says: “Essentially, the system works as a virtual crew member, keeping an eye on your yacht and alerting you to any potential issues, even when you’re away.”
