Sharrow Marine To Build Facility in Detroit

The Sharrow propeller is designed to improve fuel efficiency and performance throughout all rpm ranges.

Sharrow Marine is planning to build its manufacturing headquarters in Detroit. Sharrow Marine is a subsidiary of Sharrow Engineering LLC, a nautical and aeronautical engineering company that specializes in performance propulsion technologies.

“We are thrilled to be announcing our plans to build our new headquarters in Detroit,” Greg Sharrow, CEO of Sharrow Marine and a Detroit native. “Detroit will become the new home base for manufacturing, customer service and development. We are excited to bring jobs to Detroit and to be bringing big propeller manufacturing back to the USA.”

Sharrow propellers are milled from a single billet of aluminum or stainless steel.

The Sharrow MX-1 Propeller has garnered attention for its unique design that the company claims provides a substantial improvement in fuel efficiency and performance. At the 2020 Miami International Boat Show, Sharrow Marine won an Innovation Award for the prop.

BoatTEST.com has tested an aluminum Sharrow MX-1 and found it to be more fuel efficient and faster throughout the power curve compared to two stainless-steel propellers on the same boat. Sharrow has applied for 54 patents in the United States and abroad. So far, 27 patents have been awarded in the United States, Japan, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, 14 European companies, Taiwan, China and South Korea.
