Designers of boats intended for 2-stroke outboard power took into account the relatively light weight and their tremendous torque at the low end of the RPM range. One of the biggest drawbacks of 2-stroke engines is that they are typically 5% to 35% less fuel-efficient than 4-stroke engines, depending on the model, brand, and year.
