Sharrow Props Gets Boats on Plane with Lower RPM

Take a listen to Greg Sharrow, inventor of the Sharrow Propeller, as he discusses True Advance™ technology.

Selecting the correct propeller is an important decision, often requiring professional input and some degree of trial and error. Serious boaters know this and are willing to experiment with several propellers before choosing the right one. However, some boaters may not understand new technology, like the Sharrow Propeller, which is changing the role of propeller slip and offering unprecedented performance in the mid-range and cruising RPM settings.

The chart above is typically the pattern seen when Sharrow props are tested and compared with conventional prop performance. Note that at 3000 RPM the boat with a Sharrow prop gets on plane at 3000 going 20.8 mph, while the boat with a conventional prop is still going 10.9 mph.

What we’ve discovered during propeller tests is that when data is recorded correctly, the actual traditional propeller slip is significantly more than expected at cruising speeds. Compare that to the Sharrow Propeller, and we see the Sharrow props achieve their maximum efficiency much sooner than traditional blades. That’s why Sharrow Marine calls their actual pitch, True Advance™.
