Silent-Yachts Boosts Production at Italian Shipyard

The Austrian boatbuilder has boosted production capabilities at its recently acquired shipyard in Fano, Italy.
Austrian boatbuilder Silent-Yachts has announced improved production capabilities at its recently acquired shipyard in Fano, Italy. The company’s workforce is expanding in order to meet the growing demand for its vessels.
With an area of 22,000m², both indoors and outdoors, the new Silent-Yachts shipyard is primarily dedicated to the production of the Silent 60 series of solar-powered, fully electric catamarans. The Silent 80 series, Silent 120, and additional Silent 60 series yachts are being constructed in Turkey.
“The GRP hulls and superstructures are produced and assembled in one shed, then transferred to another for installation of the technical equipment and interior furniture,” says Silent-Yachts‘ founder and CEO Michael Köhler. “Next door to the outfitting shed we have a large warehouse for storing components and materials. Since fully acquiring the facility, the focus has been on establishing a thoroughly reliable and efficient series production process.”
In an upcoming delivery scheduled for June, Silent-Yachts will present a one-off project, the Silent 62, featuring two decks, two dedicated conference rooms, two guest cabins, and accommodations for the crew. The owner, based in the United States, plans to offer the yacht for charter to corporate clients.
Numerous other launches are planned from the Silent-Yachts shipyard in Italy this year, including the highly anticipated three-deck Silent 62 (hull #4) in late summer. This version, based on the popular Silent 60, offers an extra deck in place of the regular flybridge and increases the overall hull length by two feet.
Currently, more than 15 Silent 60 yachts are under construction in the Silent-Yachts shipyard in Italy, with the next available delivery expected in early 2025. However, Silent-Yachts reports a growing trend among clients favouring the slightly larger three-deck version of the yacht.
“Moving forward, in 2024 we are aiming to launch one new unit per month and production of the fully electric Silent Tender series will also be based in Fano,” says Köhler.
“The first prototype tender unveiled at the 2022 Cannes Yachting Festival was fitted with an electric outboard motor. The range now includes three models – the Silent Tender 400, 450 and 520 – available with electric jet propulsion.”
