Simrad NSX Ultrawide Multi-Function Display

New NSX Ultrawide MFD said to provide “elevated dash aesthetic” with dual screen coverage in a single unit.

Simrad looks to dominate glass helm market with new Ultrawide display line.

Florida, US-based marine electronics manufacturer Simrad Yachting is aiming to dominate the glass helm market in both the OEM and refit sectors with its newly launched NSX Ultrawide multi-function display line.

Announced on Wednesday, the new MFD is said to be the world’s first fully featured ultrawide marine display with a screen that’s up to 63% wider than the existing NSX product.

Simrad says its new NSX Ultrawide displays will allow both oat builders and refit yards to offer their customers twin-screen coverage in a single device for a more unified helm experience.

The Ultrawide is being positioned as providing the coverage of two screens in a single unit, allowing boatbuilders and refit yards to deliver a more streamlined and immersive helm experience with elevated dashboard appeal.

With a show-stopping aesthetic and enhanced functionality, the NSX Ultrawide is setting a new standard in the marketplace, and we are proud to pave the way,” said Navico Group digital system VP and GM, Kevin Steinbraker. “Whether in their cars, computer monitors at work, or the TVs in their homes, consumers have grown accustomed to and love the benefits of ultrawide screens. Now they can have those same experiences at the helm with immersive graphics and flexible viewing splits. The NSX Ultrawide offers a new perspective on boating that consumers won’t want to go without.”

Available in 12-inch and 15-inch screen sizes with MSRPs of US$2,749 and $3,399 respectively, Simrad’s NSX Ultrawide utilize new C-MAP Discover X charts which have been optimized specifically for NSX, with the Ultrawide display’s high pixel density rendering sharp resolution and what the company describes as an unprecedented level of detail.

The X-Gen charts include new features such as C-MAP Safety Alerts which warn users of hazards in their path, and the C-MAP X-Chart Manager which allows users to manage chart updates and upgrades directly from their device. An ability to choose custom areas is said to provide near-instant downloads.

The company is also offering a Reveal X upgrade to provide recreational anglers with extra detail including shaded relief and satellite imagery.

The product will make its global consumer debut at boot Düsseldorf, to be held from January 20 to 28, 2024, US debut at the Miami International Boat Show scheduled to run from February 14-18, 2024.
