Technology Exists Today to Help Prevent Whale Vessel Strikes

The American Sportfishing Association (ASA) recently released a video in partnership with Viking Yachts to show firsthand the technologies available on recreational boats to lessen the risk of whale strikes.

The video comes as the Office of Management and Budget within the White House reviews the proposed expansion of the 2008 North Atlantic Right Whale Vessel Strike Reduction rule.

As staunch conservationists, the recreational boating and fishing community has actively opposed the rule in favor of advanced marine technologies that can better protect endangered marine life without imperiling the lives of boaters or harming the $230 billion recreational boating industry.
