Türk Loydu Becomes a Member of the International Association of Classification Societies

Tork Loydu, IACS, News Story, Turkey

Türk Loydu, a non-profit yacht standards association in Turkey, has become a member of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) after a successful verification of compliance with IACS membership criteria.

Türk Loydu has been trying to join IACS for years and finally succeeded yesterday.

IACS has not admitted new members since 2011. Its existing members are: ABS (USA), BV (France), CCS (China), CRS (Croatia), DNV GL (Germany), IRS (India), KR (South Korea), LR (UK), PRS (Poland), RINA (Italy), RS (Russia) and ClassNK (Japan).

IACS is an association of independent ship classification societies. Its purpose is to develop standards for the design, construction, and operation of ships/yachts, to improve safety and ensure environmental protection. IACS members provide services worldwide in the construction and operation of ships.

Türk Loydu was registered as a ‘facility’ by the Turkish Chamber of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers in 1962 and became a national, independent and impartial ‘foundation’ in 1967.
