Ukrainian Builder Launches New Models Amid European Downturn
Powerboat says that despite the downturn in the European boat market as a whole, the fishing boat segment remains strong.
Amid rising demand across European markets, Ukrainian aluminium boat builder Powerboat is expanding its lineup with the introduction of three new models.
Arkadiusz Kręźlewicz, owner of KFP Watersports, Powerboat’s exclusive distributor in Poland, told IBI that although Europe’s boat market is experiencing a downturn, the fishing boat segment remains resilient. Strong demand for small aluminium boats continues to drive Powerboat’s decision to launch new models, he said.
New Aluminium Models Launched
“Powerboat’s portfolio was expanded with the launch of three new aluminium models: 485 DC, 520 DC, and 585 DC. These three boats are all fitted with outboard motors, they distinguish themselves with high-quality finishing and welding, and also highly affordable prices,” said Kręźlewicz. According to the company, the 585 DC is an extended version of its popular 520 DC model. Powerboat produces more than 400 boats annually and adds two to three new models each year to expand its growing portfolio
Enhanced Features and Reach
Owing “to the enlarged rear platforms, you get extra space for fishing, relaxation, or installing additional equipment, ideal for both sporty use and family outings,” the builder said. The hull of the 585 DC “remains lightweight and durable like the 520, but our engineers have completely redesigned the aft section to make it more versatile. A dual console with a wide central passage, spacious cockpit, and smart storage compartments: everything is built for convenience and order on board.”
Kręźlewicz said the three new models are priced at PLN 84,000 (US$23,000), PLN 99,000, and PLN 109,000, respectively, including VAT — making them highly competitive compared with similar boats from rival brands.
“Our company supplies these boats to the Polish market, but Powerboat has a sales network that covers Europe. Big dealers are based in countries such as Germany, France and Switzerland, among others, and the demand for Powerboat craft is rising in various European markets,” Kręźlewicz said. Beyond these markets, Powerboat boats are also sold through dealers in Austria, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Lithuania, Sweden, and Romania.
While promoting its three new models, Powerboat is also preparing to introduce additional models to its expanding fishing boat range, Kręźlewicz noted.
Founded in 2016, Powerboat builds its craft at a shipyard near Kyiv, where its three production facilities span a total area of about 1,500m², according to company figures. Powerboat’s annual output exceeds 400 boats, and the company launches two or three new models each year to broaden its portfolio, Kręźlewicz said. To reassure European customers of its product quality, the builder offers a five-year warranty on its boats’ hulls and welded components. At the same time, Powerboat is investing in electric variants of its boats, equipped with motors supplied by US manufacturer Lowrance.
“The most important thing for us is the trust of our customers and partners. Despite the war in Ukraine, we are working steadily, creating comfortable conditions for cooperation and fulfilling all obligations to our European partners. We are grateful to all of them for their cooperation and faith in Powerboat,” the manufacturer said in a statement.
