Because the Steelpointe show in Bridgeport, CT is “Invitation-Only,” boat-show promoters from all over the world have eyes on it. In fact, several major boat builders in Europe have suggested that shows this fall should be invitation only to eliminate the throngs of day-trippers out for an afternoon of ice cream cones and eye candy. According to the NMMA’s own data, only 20.4% of boat show attendees are there to actually research boats for a future purchase. By limiting show-goers to serious boating enthusiasts known to be in the market, exhibitors can at the same keep social distancing and not waste valuable time and resources.
