Tiara 48 LS:

New Luxury Dayboat w/Long Legs

tiara-48ls-0301.png

New Tiara 48 LS powered by 3x Mercury Verado 600-hp engines.

According to company president Tom Slikkers, the new Tiara 48 LS was in the making for a year and a half. Tiara engineers worked closely with those of Mercury Marine to produce a yacht that met some rigorous performance standards laid down by both companies. As the image above clearly shows, the 48 LS was designed for comfortable cruising and entertaining, and when at anchor, access to the water is unimpeded. Her triple Mercury 7.6 L V12 naturally-aspirated engines are stationary on the transom and have dual prop lower units that can be turned in a 90-degree arc from side to side. She gets on plane with little bow rise and can stay there at relatively low RPM, a detail that gives her long range. But her main mission is being a luxury day boat for entertaining friends and family in comfort. Find out all about her. See the video and report...

Grand Banks 60:

Robust Beam, Modern Build

grandbanks-60-0301.png

Grand Banks 60

Grand Banks designed the 60 to be an efficient long-range coastal motoryacht. She rides on a semi-displacement bottom that underwent thorough tank testing in Australia. Her low center of gravity and 19’2” (5.85 m) beam add to her stability. This is an unusually robust beam for a 60-footer and the extra room and stability will be welcome. She’s constructed with weight savings and optimum strength in mind so resin-infused E-glass and Gurit closed-cell foam were the materials of choice. The Grand Banks 60 is easy to handle and should appeal to couples who want to make long passages without additional crew. More...

Draco 27:

Bowrider w/Scandinavian Practicality

Draco 27

One of the things that stands out about the Draco 27 is her practicality. She has a straightforward open layout with a convertible aft lounge in the cockpit and one of the largest bow seating areas in class. Her Bimini top is huge and the crew never has to worry about storing it when it’s not being used. The frame folds in cleanly along the cockpit sides and the top tucks away beneath a hinged section of the aft deck. More...

Tahoe 1950:

Affordable Deckboat Seats 10

tahoe-1950-0301.png

Tahoe 1950

Tahoe developed the 1950 as an outboard-powered deckboat from the start. This opened up the stern and the designers carried the beam as far forward as possible, which did the same for the bow. This results in a passenger capacity rating of 10 in a 19’5” (5.92 m) boat. For $33,695, she comes with a 115-hp Mercury outboard and a color-keyed Bimini top. More...

Navigation

How to Navigate at Night

navigate-night.png

How to Navigate at Night

One of the great delights of boating is doing it at night. It is magical. But, to do it safely is not easy. At night, the familiar scene of land, buoys and other navigation marks blend into the darkness, replaced by fixed and flashing lights, on-shore lights and lots of unknown waters ahead. Other vessels are seen as a set of lights in various colors instead of their outline. Clearly, the operator needs to switch to a different, more rigorous level of piloting to navigate safely in the dark. Don’t be afraid of the dark – just learn how to handle it. More...
