Yamaha 255 FSH Sport E

500-hp Family Center Console

Yamaha’s 255 FSH Sport E is a 24’6” (7.46 m) family center console powered by twin 250-hp 1.8-liter Yamaha Marine SVHO engines connected to jet pumps. When we wound them up to 7400 rpm, we hit a top speed of 57.5 mph. Out of the hole, she hit 30 mph in six seconds. In turns, she felt smooth and predictable. More...

Maritimo M64

Mid-Sized Skylounge Yacht

The enclosed skylounge on the Maritimo M64 positions the helm on the upper level along with an L-shaped settee to starboard and aft-facing lounges to port, where guests can sit to chat with the captain and a companion at the helm. For safer passage, the stairs that lead down to the salon are in the yacht’s interior. On the main deck, the galley is aft and with the doors open, the aft deck and salon area merge as one. Robalo R317 In-Use Report

Member Reviews and Our Maintenance Report

In May, a Robalo R317 was introduced into the Sovereign Boat Club (a division of BoatTEST) and there are now 170 hours on the boat, enough for our staff to get feedback from our members about it. Enough for us to get a good idea of her system installations. Here are some of the things SBC members have said: “Feels like a far bigger boat.” “It has a comfortable ride, slices through chop, the hardtop and everything is solid – no rattles.” “The boat is extremely dry in chop because of the higher freeboard and bow flare.” One of our prospective members liked the boat so much after a demo ride, he is now in the process of buying one, we’re told. Since our staff oversees maintenance and repairs, we know what goes right and wrong. She hasn’t missed a day of service due to equipment failure. More...

Boston Whaler 250 Dauntless

New and Improved

Virtually everything about the new 2022 Boston Whaler 250 Dauntless is new except the model designation. 25’ (7.62 m) is a comfortable place to be so the engineers at Whaler saw no reason to change that. Most important is her new bottom design with the deadrise increasing from 16 degrees at the transom to 18 degrees, together with a sharpened forefoot that allows her to cut through chop and not pound at reasonable speeds. Our test boat weighed 5,214 lbs. (2,365 kg) and was powered by a 300-hp Mercury V8 outboard. We hit a top speed of 47.3 mph at 5600 rpm and we recorded best cruise at 4000 rpm where she ran 33.2 mph and had a range of 253 statute miles. As with all Whalers, she floats level if swamped.
