Yamaha Introduces App for Outboards

MyYamahaOutboards lets an owner monitor his engine(s) via the web or a smartphone app.

Yamaha Motor Corp USA has introduced a mobile app and web portal to enhance customer satisfaction as it relates to the company’s outboard engines. MyYamahaOutboards puts product and dealer information including a complete maintenance history for each outboard at an owner’s fingertips.

Full Service

“MyYamahaOutboards goes the distance proving every Yamaha outboard has unsurpassed longevity potential, especially when properly maintained,” Frank Wilhelm, advertising and digital marketing manager, Yamaha Marine Engine Systems, said in a statement. “Now our customers have a unique tool meant to enhance the entire ownership experience. Whether a boater is on the water every day or only a few hours each year, MyYamahaOutboards is a valuable tool for anyone with a Yamaha outboard.”

MyYamahaOutboards reports an owner’s outboard history information and maintenance requirements, reminding owners of recommended outboard-service intervals. The system records each interval completed by participating authorized Yamaha dealers and for owners who prefer the DIY approach, MyYamahaOutboards offers maintenance charts. The app and web portal notify an owner when a service appointment is due through push notifications and within the app as well. Over time, Yamaha says a complete history of the maintenance performed on the outboard has the potential to enhance the resale value when the time comes to sell.

With thousands of boats running multiple outboards, owners want the ability to keep an eye on the expensive powerplants.

“There’s a great deal of benefit in having all completed outboard service intervals recorded in one succinct platform with an authorized Yamaha outboard dealer,” said Wilhelm. “In addition, owners can use this important maintenance history report to enhance confidence and potentially increase value when they are ready to resell their current boat and buy a new one.”

Immediate Coverage

Before an owner can use the full suite of MyYamahaOutboards features, a purchased outboard. Must be warranty registered by an authorized dealer. Once the registration is complete, the owner creates an account through the app or web portal. The platforms store outboard and boat registration information to make it easier to retrieve when needed. In addition, an owner who purchases a preowned Yamaha outboard can enter his primary engine identification number (PID) and start using the portal or app as well.

The new app also lets an owner keep track of a given engine’s maintenance history.

MyYamahaOutboards can also store information for multiple boats and engines, per the user’s preference. For a boat with two or motor outboards, an owner can set the specific position of each outboard on the boat (port, starboard, etc.).  When the user wants to repower the boat, he/she can update the motor and boat data directly through the app or web portal. If an owner decides to repower, he can update the boat and motor information through the app or web portal.

Additionally, MyYamahaOutboards offers an owner other benefits including checklists and a trip-long function.
