Mission

The mission of the Regency 210 DL3 is to carry 10 people and be able to also have good performance in towing sports as well as to have room for guests to easily move around on the platform when entertaining. With her powder coated pontoons and luxury interior, she should appeal to consumers who want a pontoon boat that will stay looking like new for years to come.

Major Features

Diamond Coat Finish. The powder-coating is on the pontoons, rails, and the Bimini top frame.

Color-Keyed QuickLift Bimini. The frame has integrated locking mechanisms that make it easy to deploy.

More Storage. There is clever use of the available space behind the lounge seat backrests with the Stow More system. A boat can never have too much storage space.

XP3 Performance Package. Triple pontoons with a 26” (66.04 cm) diameter and strakes on the inboard side of outer pontoons and on both sides of the center unit.

Dedicated Fender Storage. With the shiny finish on the pontoons and deck, it’s a good idea to have fenders at the ready.

26” Pontoons. This is one of the most important aspects of any pontoon boat and is often overlooked. Some pontoon boats have 24” or 25” toons, which are not as buoyant.

Features Inspection

Passenger Accommodations

The 210 DL3 has an LOA of 23’4” (7.11 m) and a deck length of 21’3” (6.48 m) with a trailerable beam of 8’6” (2.59 m). The boat is rated for a maximum number of 10 passengers and a combined weight of 2,200 lbs. (998 kg) for people, motor, and gear. The average weight of the boat, motor and optional trailer is 5,448 lbs. (2,471 kg), so the 210 DL3 can be towed by a variety of trucks and SUVs.

The Bow. For easy boarding from the dock, the 210 DL3’s bow platform is 16 1/2” (41.9 cm) deep. Fold up cleats on each side are 4 ½” (11.4 cm) long and there are LED navigation and docking lights on the fence on each side. After we passed through the 24”-(61 cm) wide bow gate, we found twin lounges set up for forward-facing travel with reclined backrest on the port and starboard consoles. Regency provides a table with twin drink holders plus in-deck receptacles fore and aft. At the aft end of the port lounge, the changing curtain pulls up to provide some privacy.

Bow Storage. Regency takes in-lounge storage to a new level on the 210 DL3 with its Stow More system. Not only do the hinged bottom cushions on both sides pull up to reveal locking storage, the backrests also pull up to provide access to more capacity. There’s a ski locker in the center tube that is lighted and has its own automatic bilge pump.

The opening measures 14” (35.6 cm) wide and 45” (1.1 m) long. Inside, the compartment is 25” (63.5 cm) wide, 88” (2.2 m) long, and 23” (58.4 cm) deep. Finally, the starboard headrest pulls up to access a wastebasket and the side of the console has a hinged hatch that opens a locker beneath the helm.

Amidships. Abaft the port bow lounge, Regency designs the 210 DL3 with a 34” (.86 m)-wide gate that is wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair. As with all of the gates on the boat, it has a stainless steel latch to hold it closed and a magnet that keeps it open.

The Helm. To starboard, the helm console and seat are mounted on a raised deck to give the driver a better view over passengers on the bow lounges. The captain’s chair is new and it reclines, swivels, and has self-leveling arms. The dash is equipped with Mercury Smart Craft multifunction gauges flanking the 7” (17.8 cm) Lowrance HOOK2 7 fishfinder chartplotter. It has a two in one sonar display with a wide-angle Broadband Sounder or high CHIRP DownScan Imaging with full chartplotter or basic GPS models.

Outboard of the dash on each side, there’s a cell-phone holder. The steering wheel is on a tilt base and to port are the key and emergency shut off switch with remaining accessory switches to starboard. Down low in the console, ahead of the driver’s knees, there’s a locking glovebox.

Aft Seating Area

Immediately abaft the driver’s seat is the aforementioned locker that has dedicated slots for four fenders. To port, a lounge seat wraps around to the gate that leads aft to the swim platform. It has a backrest that includes for rear-facing travel. There’s a receptacle for the table in the deck and the lounge has the Stow More storage system as well.

The 210 DL3 also comes standard with an 11’ (3.35 m) color-keyed Bimini top on a QuickLift frame. It has LED lights and storage pockets, plus a new front zipper so it can be joined to the optional front Bimini top, if purchased.

The Stern

Aft to starboard, the stern gate is 22” (55.9 cm) wide and the full-width swim platform is 18” (45.7 cm) fore to aft. The four-step boarding ladder is to starboard and is built on the same heavy-duty style frame as the Bimini top. The 210 DL3 comes standard with an aluminum tow pylon that places the rope above the outboard motor.

Performance

The Boat. All three of the 210 DL3’s pontoons measure 26” (66.04 cm) in diameter. As mentioned above, the outer pontoons have lifting strakes on the inboard side and the center pontoon has strakes on both sides. All the pontoons have spray rails forward and full-length keels to help keep the boat on track.

Our test boat was powered by an optional 200-hp Mercury FourStroke outboard.

The Numbers. With two people and a full tank of fuel, our test boat had an estimated weight of 4,011 lbs. (1,819 kg). We ran a top speed of 39.4 mph at 5750 rpm.

Best cruise came at 3000 rpm where the boat ran 15.3 mph and burned 4.3 gph, which translated into 3.5 mpg and a range of 166 statute miles with 10% of the boat’s 52-gallon (197 L) fuel capacity in reserve.

In acceleration tests, the 210 DL3 ran to 20 mph in 5.1 seconds and to 30 mph in 8.8 seconds.

Handling

With the triple pontoons and lifting strakes, the 210 DL3 felt agile on the water, carving through turns and leaning into maneuvers at a comfortable angle. Around the docks, the motor had the power to put the boat where our driver wanted.

Construction

Regency builds the 210 DL3 with a 7-ply ¾” (1.91 cm) thick plywood deck that has a limited lifetime warranty. A single-piece aluminum M-bracket supports the deck and Z-bar deck supports are through-bolted to the bracket. The all-welded aluminum extended motor pod houses the fuel tank and the transom is box-beam aluminum. To protect the pontoons’ powder-coated finish, the rubrail is oversized and has beefy corner castings.

Observations

The Regency brand is the White River Group’s premium pontoon boat, with many amenities, such as the powder coating, that the Sun Tracker line does not have. This boat should keep looking good much longer than all pontoon boats with un-painted toons, because the aluminum oxidizes and becomes mottled.

Our test boat was powered by a 200-hp Mercury FourStroke outboard, and we do not know how fast it will go or how it will perform with the standard 150-hp engine. For that reason, we would recommend paying the $4,200 up-charge for the 200-hp option.
