World’s Largest Outboard Powered Boat
New Boat: Scout 670 LXS
The biggest Scout ever—and also reportedly the biggest outboard-powered recreational boat ever built—debuts at the Palm Beach International Boat Show this year in the massive Scout 670 LXS, powered with five 600-hp Mercury Verado V-12 outboards.
The yacht has an LOA of 66’ 9” (20.35 m) and a beam of 16’ 2” (4.93 m). It carries 1,500 gallons (5,678 L) of fuel to feed the 3,000 horses expected to push it to 60 mph or more. Cruising speed is estimated at 40 mph, and range at cruise about 500 SM.
The 670 LXS is the first in the 67 LX Series, per the company. It was designed in partnership with world renowned super yacht design studio Harrison Eidsgaard. It will be offered in two models, the 670 LXS (Luxury Sport Model) and the 670 LXF (Luxury Fish Model).
“We want to continue to raise the industry bar for class, comfort, and style and we knew the next evolution for the Scout brand was the 670 LX Series,” says Scout CEO/Founder Steve Potts.
“Our dedicated team of designers and engineers, coupled with our partnership with world-renown UK-based super yacht design studio Harrison Eidsgaard has worked tirelessly on this project, developing a product that is second to no other boat in its market.”
Featuring three state rooms below deck, three interior color options, multiple lounge areas throughout the boat, articulating rocket launchers with a SureShade, retractable port, starboard, and aft window, a retractable sunroof, dual hydraulic beach platforms, and so much more the all-new 670 LXS takes the innovation and luxury Scout is known for to an all-new level.
“The 670 is the result of the synergy between Scout Boats’ vast experience in the sport fishing market combined with Harrison Eidsgaard’s experience in the superyacht design industry and drive to innovate,” says Peder Eidsgaard, one of the founders of Harrison Eidsgaard, the London-based design company who worked with Scout Boats on the exterior and interior design of this new flagship.
The design combines Scout Boats’ sport fish heritage injected with superyacht detailing and styling, with key features comprised of long flowing lines from bow to aft in combination with the company’s signature aft leg that runs into the hardtop ‘pods’.
Scout currently builds luxury sportfishing center console, dual console, luxury crossover and inshore/bay boat models ranging from 17’ to 67’. Since its founding over three decades ago, the company’s goal has been to manufacture the best-built boats in its distinctive sportfishing niches.
Each Scout hull is a true original, as the in-house research and design team works closely with engineering to take concepts from blueprint to production more efficiently, growing the company’s world-class reputation for quality, strength, durability and value.
