Captain's Report - S-250 CW (2025-)

Features Walkthrough Transcript

Overview

Captain Shelly's introduction: "The Stelara S250 Center Walk Around — rugged, reliable, and ready for adventure. While it's not a typical center console boat, this center walk-around is built for fishing, day cruising, and family fun — smart design and serious versatility."

Hull

Double-step hull, providing performance and fuel economy. Laminar flow interrupters are incorporated into the underside of the hull to keep the stern from sliding, improving turning precision.

Power / Transom

Standard engine: Yamaha 300.

"Clear Path" transom: Electronics are tucked away for a clear path across the transom.

Additional transom features: Cup holders, a ski/tow pylon that recesses down out of the way when not needed, extensive deck lighting, underwater lighting, and a boarding ladder.

Cockpit (Forward from Transom)

Stern shower: Positioned for convenient access when boarding.

Additional aft features: A livewell (also usable as storage when not needed for bait), a freshwater sink, and additional wet box storage.

Under the Sole

Storage on the port side (sized for fenders and lines), mirrored on the starboard side. Centerline: tank access for visual system inspection. Captain Shelly noted the quality of the plumbing: "I see double hose clamps on everything. Access to pumps and tanks — it's a nice layout."

Cockpit — Fishing/Entertaining Configuration

Fishing configuration: Wide-open casting platform, with two rod holders in each gunwale (port and starboard) plus six rocket launchers overhead.

Entertaining configuration: Additional seating options — one aft, one under the port gunwale — plus a slide-out cooler, allowing a decent number of people to be seated in the cockpit.

Under the Hardtop

A dockside grill and a stash box for small items. Overhead: hardtop-integrated speakers with LED lighting that matches the underwater lights and accent lighting around the hardtop — Captain Shelly noted this creates a distinctive look at night. Also present: spreader lights and a backup camera mounted to the hardtop.

Walk-Around Design

Starboard side offers a full pass-through; the port-side walkway is minimized to maximize interior cabin space. Captain Shelly noted she still felt confident moving through this area to access the roof.

Roof racks: Currently holding a stand-up paddleboard; also capable of accommodating a kayak or (per Captain Shelly) even a bike.

Helm Seating

Two comfortable captain's chairs, featuring the Stelara logo and red piping worked into the upholstery — matching the red LED accent lighting elsewhere on the boat. Seats move fore and aft, with flip-down bolsters.

In-House Manufacturing

Captain Shelly noted Stelara manufactures upholstery, metalwork, and other components in-house, which she said helps maintain component quality while also providing cost savings passed to the consumer.

Dash / Helm Finish

Carbon-fiber-backed panel with red thread detail; dash covered in upholstered faux leather with additional red stitching. Forward areas use foam decking to prevent items from sliding.

Windshield

Described as expansive and tall — Captain Shelly noted good sightlines both standing and sitting, without her line of sight being obstructed by the top edge of the windshield. Two opening port lights above provide additional ventilation.

Helm Controls

Rocker switches, digital throttle controls on the Pinnacle, bow thruster, VHF, and standard autopilot. Captain Shelly emphasized the equipment level as standard: "That's something to really note from Stelara — they put out a standard base boat that is really, really well equipped. Everything that you see on this boat today comes standard, except for maybe the hull color."

Cabin

Captain Shelly noted the cabin size relative to the boat's overall length: "Remember, we're on a 25-foot boat, and there's a pretty decent sized cabin down below."

Door: A two-part door design — Captain Shelly noted this as an improvement over typical sliding doors, which "end up getting stuck over time."

Headroom: 6 feet, 3 inches.

Features: Freshwater sink on the port side, rod storage running all the way forward. A filler cushion currently configures the space as a berth; removable to reveal a seating area instead.

Head: On the starboard side, a cushion lifts to reveal a marine pump toilet.

Additional storage: Forward storage beneath the berth, sized for fishing poles; two opening ports for ventilation; a non-slip storage surface once closed up.

Companion seat area: An angled footrest continues across for the companion position.

Bow

Currently configured in "dining mode" — forward-facing seating with cup holders and speakers throughout.

Convertible casting platform: The table lowers, and a platform folds out underneath to create a casting space; a large filler cushion can instead convert the whole area into a sun pad.

Ground tackle: The anchor locker opens on both sides — one side provides access to the electric windlass, with controls positioned below. Captain Shelly noted a specific design choice: "The anchor windlass is horizontal, not vertical, where the chain can get snagged or come off the drum. The large opening to port makes it easy for anyone to reach down and untangle any snarls."

Bow ladder: A four-step ladder on the starboard side. Captain Shelly's assessment: "I love going to the sandbar, and this makes getting on the boat without having to go all the way to the back a nice added touch."

Starboard Walk-Through

Width approximately 15 inches, with high gunwales. Includes three rod holders, cup holders, and a subwoofer positioned below.

Additional Standard Features (Bow Area)

Docking lights below, an integrated Garmin camera at the bow to aid trailering, and a large spreader light for nighttime docking illumination.
