WiLder 60
Born to Be WiLder
Italian shipyard Wider, known for building bespoke superyachts, has introduced a fully customizable 62’ (18.9 m) thrill-a-minute model, the sleek WiLder.
The all-aluminum performance hull was designed and built by Wider Engineering. The company says the striking aluminum hull ensures seaworthiness and durability, and also dampens noise and vibrations.
The WiLder 60’s dynamic lines mark her as a contemporary classic with a Gran Turismo savor. Modern sculptural elements such as the subtly angular deckhouse mix with the reverse bow and the classic reverse sheerline to convey a style that is both handsome and sleek. Supercar style cues such as the engine room intake vents and low-slung wide aft end hint at power and poise. It’s not just appearances—powered by twin MAN V8 1300’s with surface drives, she can top 40 knots, per the company.
Despite the low profile she offers lots of entertainment space inside and out, as well as spacious accommodations belowdeck.
Between the two party decks fore and aft lies the partially enclosed helm. It includes three MFD’s and a joystick control.
Power to Spare
Twin MAN V8s delivering 1,300hp each are linked to surface drives, giving the WiLder 60 a scintillating 40-knot top speed and a 35-knot cruise with a range of 240 nautical miles, according to the company.
Bow and stern thrusters and a dynamic positioning system assure easy docking, and two optional Quick MC2 X19 stabilizers smooth the ride.
Superyacht Interior Finishes
The WiLder 60’s low-slung exterior belies an expansive interior that, with the in-house design team Wider Centro Stile and a client’s wishlist, can be configured and finished entirely according to preference, making each WiLder 60 unique.
This first hull has a spacious owner’s cabin forward with a generous ensuite, two additional guest cabins aft, a saloon with designer galley cabinet, and an additional head and shower that can double as a day head.
However, configuration options can suit each owner’s operational desires – for example, the aft port cabin can convert into a crew area.
The company says the supercar essence is continued below decks, with the interplay of materials and the level of detailing evoking luxury car interiors. Lighting plays a crucial role, with both direct and indirect lighting used to create a warm, welcoming atmosphere that is complemented by alternating gloss lacquer and satin bronze inserts.
Oak parquet flooring confers warmth to the interior and continues into the heads which offer Krion Coffee Cream countertops in contrast to the lacquered bulkheads.
In the owner’s suite, an enveloping headboard and sofa design create a flowing, single element.
“The interior highlights one of the WiLder 60’s biggest surprises – that high-style, high-performance yachts can have spacious and, above all, luxuriously finished interiors,” enthuses Michele Lubrano Lobianco, Chief of Wider Centro Stile. “This is the epitome of the WiLder concept – bespoke interiors completed to the very highest superyacht standards of finish, combining Italian design flair with the ultimate craftsmanship.”
The future, now
The arrival of the first WiLder 60 is a major milestone not just for Wider and its fledgling WiLder brand, but also for the wider 60-foot market. While more custom WiLder 60s are taking shape, this first hull, featuring her bespoke interior design and layout developed specifically for her European owner, proves that once again Wider is at the forefront of innovative thinking, driving the yachting sector in new and exciting directions.
“She is everything we conceived her to be, and so much more,” concludes Fabio Fraternale, Wider CEO. “She shows that performance yachts can still be luxurious; that 60-footers can still be built with a superyacht ethos; and that whatever a client imagines, we can make reality .”
ABOUT WIDER
Wider is an Italian yacht builder, pioneer of the serial hybrid propulsion system onboard luxury yachts. Wider yachts are designed and built with a strong focus on efficiency significantly reducing fuel consumption, noise and vibrations emitted without forgetting the aesthetics of the design and the quality of the materials.
The serial hybrid propulsion system is a flexible solution that can be easily applied on a great variety of yachts like Wider’s Catamaran range and on the custom superyachts. Founded in 2010, the shipyard is now led by Marcello Maggi, head of the holding company W-Fin Sarl, of which he is a partner along with private equity.
Wider facilities are based on the East coast of Italy: from the Wider Vision Hub, a new cutting-edge headquarters in Fano to the Superyacht Hub in Venice, where superyachts and full-custom projects are built. In 2022, in Dubai, Wider unveiled the new WiderCat 92, the first multihull in the history of the Marche-based shipyard and began the construction of the Moonflower 72 superyacht. Both are equipped with the state-of-the-art Wider serial hybrid propulsion system.
In early 2024, the first units of both the WiderCat 92 and WiLder 60 have been launched, with a premiere for the WiderCat 92 at the Venice Boat Show. Both models are ready to debut at the upcoming boat shows. Learn more at https://wider-yachts.com.
