Seakeeper and Seakeeper Ride Unleash New Stabilization Power for Catamarans
Seakeeper, the leader in marine motion control, has committed to the growing power catamaran market (up to ~55 ft | 16 m) by releasing specialized sizing and software for both the Seakeeper gyro and Seakeeper Ride trim system. While cats offer benefits, they still suffer from roll, high-speed porpoising, and wide turning characteristics. New testing allows Seakeeper to confidently size gyros (which need 1.5x-2x the power of monohulls). New Seakeeper Ride software (coming early next year) will not only enhance underway stabilization against pitch and yaw but will also enable catamarans to naturally bank into turns, transforming the vessel's performance and handling.
Key Product Features:
- Confident Sizing for Gyro: Seakeeper's proprietary software now accurately calculates the required angular momentum for catamarans up to ~55 ft | 16 m with up to 18 ft | 6 m beams, supporting both new builds and refits.
- Custom Catamaran Software (Seakeeper Ride): Forthcoming specialized software (early next year) will optimize the variable gain algorithms for catamarans, specifically targeting enhanced control over pitch, roll, and yaw underway.
- Improved Turning Dynamics: The new Seakeeper Ride software is designed to enable the catamaran to "bank" into turns, mitigating the traditional flat-turning characteristic of multi-hulls for a more comfortable, monohull-like feel.
- Flexible Seakeeper Ride Controller Placement: Installation is optimized for multi-hulls, allowing controllers to be mounted on both inboard and outboard sections of symmetrical demihulls.
- Versatile Gyro Installation: The Seakeeper unit can be installed in one or both demihulls, or centrally above or below deck, offering flexibility for various catamaran layouts.
