Sessa's New Sexy 46
Although Sessa has been in the boatbuilding
business for 50 years, its sleek yachts did not reach American shores until the
last few years or so. The new C46 is designed specifically for Volvo Penta’s IPS
engines. This gives the mid cabin master stateroom more fore-and-aft room. It appears
as if Sessa has chopped down its stringers to allow walk around head room for its
queen berth, something that is vitally important in this size and price of boat.

The big question is can a 6’4” man stand at the helm without having to poke his head through the sun roof? ABYC requires that the windshield frame be no lower that 68” off the bridge deck. |
The heart of the C46 is the bridge deck. The area is equipped with a teak-fronted
wet bar, a two-burner cooktop, and a C-shape settee that'll seat eight; there’s
a double companion leather seat at the starboard-side helm for the captain and friend.
The large, electronically retractable roof spans across the length of the hardtop.
Just abaft the seating is a six-foot-plus long sunpad, with another large sunpad on the
foredeck.
Sessa’s engineers cleverly added a tender garage—accessed via the teak-clad swim
platform and under the sunpad—that will accommodate a PWC or small dinghy. For day
checks, a gas strut allows for engine room access below the garage with the convenience
of keeping the tender in place.

We have always been impressed with the quality of Sessa’s joinerwork and the general fit and finish of its boats. |
Along with a small port-side galley, adjacent salon and the aforementioned master
stateroom, the forward cabin VIP has standard oak cabin sole. The VIP also has a
remarkable feature—a scissor-style berth that reportedly converts from two single
berths to a double berth in seconds. Both staterooms are served by en suite heads
with showers.
