Dear Editor,
I just had the Ducky Award sent to me and much to my surprise it was my boat! What
a scream. Love all of the captions! That happened on Memorial Day weekend 2007 at
9 AM in the morning. We were heading down to Boca Grande to go Tarpon fishing for
the week and just as we got on the interstate a 19 year old was racing through traffic
when I saw him approaching in my mirror. I was thinking, " this guy is going
to cut me off." I was doing about 60 mph at this point. Much to my surprise he did
more than cut me off. He lost control and hit the left guardrail and that sent him
into a spin that made him take a hard right into the left side of my truck forcing
me to jack knife. I couldn't pass a greased BB at that point. I slid for 1/10 of
a mile. Hazmat was called after they asked how much fuel was onboard (300 gallons).
They then shut the highway down for 4 hours on Memorial Day weekend. As you can
imagine, there were a lot of upset travelers that morning. There was a 15 mile back
up. We have since had the boat and truck repaired and both are a testimonial to
their makers. This is obviously the Reader's Digest version. I have attached a few
photos for your enjoyment. If you would like more information please feel free to
either e-mail or call me.
BTW -- The boat's name is "CarrTrouble."
Thank you,
Adam Carr
