Boaters Win $1.45 Million...
Recently, a New Jersey Superior Court Judge approved a $1.45 million settlement of a class action lawsuit brought by boaters in five Delaware River marinas against a local manufacturing company whose smokestack emissions allegedly damaged the Isinglass on their boats. By terms of the settlement, more than 1,700 boaters notified may claim up to $1,350 each for damages incurred since 1997. The money will reimburse boat owners for the cost of replacing Isinglass. The defendant company, which manufactures metal powders for the welding and chemical industries, did not admit wrongdoing under terms of the settlement.
