39'-41’ Express Cruisers: Same Size Range but Quite Different
Although these six boats are similar in size, there’s enough variation in the details to repay careful inspection. First, the layouts: Cruisers Yachts’ 39 Express Coupe has the master stateroom amidships, and a comfortable dinette forward; there’s no berth in the bow as is typical in boats like these. When extra guests are aboard, the dinette converts. The Formula 400 Super Sport takes the same approach, while the Cruisers Yachts 41 Cantius has her galley down, but the dinette's up. This makes room for two staterooms and two heads below. Sea Ray offers a second head on the 400 Sundancer, and an optional grill station at the transom. The Formula 40 PC and the Beneteau Gran Turismo 40 take the conventional approach, with a double stateroom forward and two more berths in the mid-cabin. Both have grill stations at the aft end of the cockpit; the cook stands on the swim platform. If you’ve ever smoked up a cabin sacrificing a steak, you’ll know how valuable this is, and it makes use of deck space that would otherwise go to waste.
