Beneteau Oceanis 48:

The Most Popular Sailboat Brand in America

is French

Beneteau Oceanis 48
Beneteau Oceanis 48

…and with good reason. Beneteau has pioneered easy-to-sail boats with modern styling, innovations, practical and versatile interiors, and at prices hard to beat. Many American sailboat builders (which once dominated the world) stuck with the same-old, same-old (they called themselves “traditionalists”) until their customers dwindled down to just a few aging mossbacks. (It would make a good case study for a Harvard’s MBA class.) Find out about the Oceanis 48 and see what new sailboat buyers find compelling.

Sea Ray L590 Fly
Sea Ray L590 Fly

The Sea Ray L590 Fly has graceful, modern exterior styling. She is powered by triple Cummins QSC 8.3 diesels with Zeus drives, and joystick maneuverability. We think she is remarkably well-equipped for the price.

Chaparral 267 SSX
Chaparral 267 SSX

The Chaparral 267 SSX has unusually high freeboard for a bowrider of her LOA, which promises a dry, safe ride, even for occasional runs outside the inlet. Her Extended V-Plane Hull delivered good performance when powered by the optional 6.2 L 350-hp MerCruiser, planing in 3.6 seconds and producing a top speed of 50.8 mph.

Cruisers Yachts 54 Cantius:

37-Kt. WOT w/Fine Craftsmanship

Cruisers Yachts 54 Cantius
Cruisers Yachts 54 Cantius

Cruisers Yachts has done a good job of changing with the times, and its highly successful Cantius line is a sign of that. The 54 Cantius is a good example of the builder’s modern Euro-looking designs that owners can be proud of. The interior of the 54 Cantius was created by high-style interior designers, and their choice of woods and fabrics set the boat apart from many on the market. Old world craftsmanship and TLC is alive and well at the Cruisers Yachts factory in Oconto, Wisconsin. See how they’ve done and judge for yourself.

New Boat

Gulfstream 52:

New Center Console Megayacht

Gulfstream 52
The forward sun pad is expected to be a popular spot on the Gulfstream 52.

Visitors to south Florida boat shows are often greeted by large, beautiful boats that are not in the mainstream. These are invariably boats built by entrepreneurs and boat lovers who have a small facility with a few workers, or people who have subcontracted the work out to existing boat yards. Quite often, their innovative ideas are picked up by the mainstream, so they are always worth a look-see. Gulfstream Yachts is such a concern, and at this year’s Miami Boat Show, its new 52 caught our eye. We found some good ideas, and this 52 is part of a growing trend of large center consoles.
