World Cat 230SD:

World Cat’s Most Popular Model

World Cat 230 SD
World Cat 230SD

The World Cat 230SD has the silhouette of a runabout or conventional dual console, but her 8'6" (2.59 m) beam and twin-hull design adds lots of usable space at the bow as well as contributing to stability and an exceptionally smooth ride on plane. Twin 115-hp outboards provide get-home assurance, and L-shaped cockpit seating, a removable table, and a wet bar allow her to serve as a family fun boat for beach-combing, diving or tow sports as well as occasional fishing forays.

MCY 76:

2x MAN 1200-HP V8s + ZF Pods

MCY 76
BoatTEST.com recorded these numbers on the Monte Carlo Yachts 76 during our test.

There are not many large motoryachts driven by pod-drive systems but it is a coming trend. One of the first large motoryachts to use pod drives was the MCY 76. The builder married the twin MAN V8s to the ZF pods for higher speeds and greater fuel efficiency at cruising speeds. Believe it or not, burning 45.7 gph at 1500 rpm and 14.3 knots isn’t bad for a 100,000-lb. motoryacht.

Sailfish 290 CC:

Offshore Fishing Machine w/58.0 MPH WOT

Sailfish 290 CC
Sailfish uses Prisma beams athwartships to support their decks, giving stiffness and light weight. Carbon fiber and fiberglass adheres to PVC foam. A trapezoidal-shaped beam adds strength.

These pre-formed polyurethane foam cores are laminated under the deck every 5" on Sailfish boats. The cores themselves are 5" across and 3" deep and are laminated with carbon fiber along with the fiberglass and resin.

TAHOE 550 TS
TAHOE® 550 TS

The TAHOE® 500 TS is a 19'10" (6.05 m) runabout competitively priced at $29,995 including 4.5-liter MerCruiser power and single-axle trailer with brakes and swing-away tongue. The Powerglide II hull design is wider, longer, and deeper than its predecessor, providing more stability, a smoother ride, and faster planing – she planed in just 2.3 seconds in our tests – equivalent to PWC – and had a top speed of 49.7 mph.

And she’s got some options to consider...

Ask a Question

How Does the Weight of the New Mercury V-8 Outboard Compare to the Competition?

uscg report

Seen here are the four different accent colors that are available on the new Mercury 4.6L V-8 FourStroke—Graphite Grey, Mercury Silver, Pacific Blue, and Redline Red.

Since the new 4-stroke Mercury 4.6L V-8 outboard platform has two more cylinders than all of the competitors in class, it’s not surprising that we have gotten questions as to how this new platform stacks up with the other outboards. We have compared the weight of the new FourStroke 300 with its competition.
