Greenline 40:

Electric Power Option for Displacement Speeds

Greenline 40
Greenline 40

With both electric and diesel power systems, the Greenline 40 Hybrid welcomes extended cruising, even in remote locations where it's a long way between fuel pumps. The system is set up to operate at displacement speeds of 4 to 6 knots on electric power, and on the twin 220-hp Volvo Penta diesels on plane. Solar panels plus chargers connected to the diesels keep the batteries well supplied not only for propulsion, but also to run A/C, lights, and nav systems. Two staterooms and a single head provide accommodations for four belowdecks.

Twin-Jet Bowrider Ready for Watersports

Yamaha 242 Limited S
Yamaha 242 Limited S

The Yamaha 242 Limited S is an impressive performer thanks to her twin 1812 cc Yamaha H.O. jet power systems, delivering a top speed of 51.8 mph in our tests. The Articulating Keel extension enhances the overall ride stability as well as low- and high-speed turning without increasing running draft. The standard 7" Connext touchscreen system shows rpm, fuel flow, and GPS speed as well as water depth, and can also pull up miles per gallon, average speed, engine temperature, and more.

The Hampton Yachts 650 is distinguished by its lavish use of wood, fine joinery work, and world-class equipment and installations, all at a very competitive price for the genre. Matched-grain cherry is found in all cabinetry and trim, and the granite soles in the galley as well as the bath areas on the accommodations level are heated. The master and VIP are en suite, while the guest stateroom adjoins the day head. With her large engine room, fiberglass design, and minimum of exterior teak, she should be easy to maintain.

What's New in Marine Radar?

electronics

Looking at the screen of a Simrad Broadband 4G marine radar, one can see the target separation and also look at the data overlaid on a navigation chart, all on a split screen.

It’s a great time for boaters to be alive, with technology that was once so hard to use and arcanely designed now as simple as a smartphone. What’s better than knowing what’s out there, beyond the range of eyesight – well beyond it – be it birds working over fish, shipping traffic and other boats, or a line of squalls bearing down? That’s where today’s radars come in. Whether a boater is looking for traditional pulse radars, solid-state systems, or something not everyone has seen yet, they’re all here, in a table that’s easy to digest and dissect. Best of all, some systems are supported by multifunction displays, and are as easy to add on as mounting an antenna or radome and plugging in the wire.
