Hatteras Hull and Construction:

State-of-the-Art

Resin Infusion

Hatteras Hull and Construction
Our Capt. Steve inspects a new Hatteras hull.

The hull of Hatteras yachts are built via the resin-infusion process, which results in the optimum resin-to-fiberglass ratio for maximum strength and rigidity, with minimum weight. Hatteras yachts have always been known for their robust hulls, and they are no different today – just lighter. Most of the superstructure is foam-cored, creating a low-flex structure with minimal weight and superior insulation properties. Fuel tanks are integral to the hull, lowering the CG, creating a second bottom, saving weight and eliminating corrosion that can occur with metal tanks.

Jupiter 43 SF:

Fish Hard or Dayboat in Style

Jupiter 43 SF
Jupiter 43 SF

The Jupiter 43 SF has the kind of hull where the triple outboards may just do it, but the quads will change the game. Jupiter builds this big center console to run in virtually any sea condition, meaning she’s comfortable to fish offshore. But she’ll also show a large group of family and friends a good time running around off the beach.

Comparison

23'-27' Bay Boats Compared:

Four Boats for Thin Water

comparison

Clockwise from top left: SeaVee 270Z Bay, Ranger Boats 2510 Bay, Wellcraft 241 Bay, Robalo 226 Cayman.

Today’s roundup compares four boats designed for fishing in relatively sheltered waters, but they'll serve as fun family boats, too. Most people do most of their boating on just the kind of water these boats are happiest on. Each one can sneak into very thin water, so they're ideal for chasing shallow-water prey or bonefishing on the Florida flats – and they're great at beaching for swimming and a picnic, too. While not meant for offshore boating, if you like mooching around in thin water, or racing back and forth across the bay, one of these four might be just right for you.
