Stingray 212SC Deck Boat:
53.2 MPH w/New 200-hp Mercury V-6
The Stingray 212SC Deck was both fast and fuel-efficient in our tests powered with the new 200-hp Mercury V-6 FourStroke. We reached a top speed of 53.2 mph at 5840 rpm in test runs, and most economic cruise came in at 3000 rpm and 23 mph. At that speed, the 4.4-gph fuel burn translated into 5.3 mpg and a range of 235.3 statute miles. The 3.4-liter displacement of the new outboard is double the 1.7-liter displacement of the inline-4 Mercury Verado 200 that it replaces, and yet it weighs 35 lb. (15.9 kg) less.

A sliding door and fold-down shelf allows galley access from the cockpit in the Greenline 39 Solar. The layout is asymmetrical, with the deckhouse flush to port and a single walkway to the bow on the starboard side. Our test boat was powered with a single 370-hp Yanmar diesel, but she's also available as a hybrid, with an electric drive system charged in part by solar panels on the cabin roof. Large capacity batteries allow running lights, AC, and other systems without shore power or starting the engine.
