The Sea Ray SLX 310 OB is a big, luxurious bowrider that springs to life when 700 ponies are given their head. Time to plane was 4.7 seconds and to 30 mph in 10.5 seconds. That’s sort of like 0-to-60 in five seconds in an automobile. And, the good thing about this bowrider is that she can be taken offshore, something that we would never think of with smaller bowriders with low freeboard.

The new 4-stroke DOHC Mercury V-8 platform is available in four lines – FourStroke, Pro XS, Verado, and Sea Pro – with 11 models running from 200- to 300-hp. This allows matching the motors to the boat and the mission, via altering the gearing, lower unit, and engine mapping. The new, naturally-aspirated engine has the highest displacement in class and has the most mid-range torque according to the company, and is also the lightest in the 300-hp class.

The cat design allows space for three cabins, three heads below. And, while she is not quite as stable as a condo, it’s hard to move a condo when a new vista is wanted.
