We Look at 175 to 225-HP Engines
Mercury says that the new 3.4 V-6 engine platform – which has the largest displacement in the 200-hp outboard class – has 20% more torque than its closest 4-stroke competitor at best cruising speeds. Bearing sizes, and oil flow, have been engineered to reduce internal friction and improve overall efficiency, and the new engines are lighter than previous models, according to Mercury.
