Monte Carlo Yachts: New MCY 70 is Brighter, Better

First Peak

MCY
The newly redesigned Monte Carlo Yachts made her debut at the Dusseldorf boat show which ended last week.

The Monte Carlo Yachts 70 was introduced in 2010 and won “boat of the year” at virtually every European boat show she attended. But that was eight years ago and in the meantime, MCY has introduced five new yachts into the market, all designed by Nuvolari and Lenard, and what was new then is old now. In the new MCY 70, virtually everything has been changed except her hull and deck. Her new basic themes are large windows and portlights, more open spaces, lacquered wood décor, and an orientation away from a crewed boat to one run by an owner/operator.

MCY
The new Monte Carlo Yachts 70 was introduced by Madam Annette Roux (r) who is a member of the Supervisory Board of Beneteau Group, after serving as CEO of the company from 1975 to 2005, and she is still very much a guiding light to the Beneteau brands, which include MCY, Jeanneau, Beneteau, and many others.

Here we see Jeff Hammond, co-founder of BoatTEST, congratulating Madam Roux on a job well done with the new MCY 70. Madam Roux is generally considered by her peers to be one of the most brilliant innovators in recreational boat building. She was largely responsible for making Beneteau the world’s largest sailboat builder, as well as energizing boat building in France. More lately she and her company have challenged the traditional players in the powerboat world.
