Vicem Classic 58:

Artistry in Wood-Working

Vicem Classic 58
Vicem Classic 58

For those who love fine wood-working, the interior of the Turkish-built Vicem Classic 58 is awe-inspiring. Note that even the windshield, window frames and mullions are beautifully-finished satin-finished mahogany, while the decks are mahogany with inlaid holly accents. Doors to the accommodations areas forward are solid mahogany with raised panel woodwork and steam-bent trim. The heat and AC vents are concealed by finished wood valences. But, this is just the start.

MAKO® 334 CC:

Triple 350 Verado’s, 64.4 MPH WOT

MAKO® 334 CC
MAKO® 334 CC

The MAKO® 334 CC is all about getting to the fish fast. Powered with triple 350 Mercury Verado’s for our test, she proved her mettle – getting on plane in 4.0 seconds and delivering a top speed of 64.4 mph, enough to put her at the head of the pack on tournament days when conditions are right for wide-open running. Note this was the version with the tower, which adds considerable weight as well as some added windage. The “family edition” without the tower would be even faster—Bimini for lunch, anyone? The 306-gallon fuel capacity provided a maximum range of about 400 SM at 3000 rpm and 29.8 mph.

Evinrude E-TEC G2:

Superior Torque to Get on Plane Fast

Evinrude E-TEC G2
Evinrude E-TEC G2

Many boats, and particularly small light ones such as RIBs, aluminum boats, and small center consoles, need to get on plane fast and the best engine for that task is a 2-stroke engine. Evinrude’s E-TEC G2 2-stroke outboards are known for their impressive acceleration, the result of a power stroke on every revolution of the crankshaft in the 2-stroke design, versus a power stroke on every other revolution of the crank in 4-strokes. That’s why 4-stroke engines wallow in some applications. With a 2-stroke engine you don’t have to put a friend in the bow to get it down.

Riviera 5400 Sport Yacht:

Keeping the Engine Room Cool

Riviera 5400 Sport Yacht
Riviera 5400 Sport Yacht

The engine room of the Riviera 5400 Sport Yacht is accessed from three hatches in the cockpit deck. The engine space includes acoustic and thermal insulation along with LED lighting and an average overhead clearance of 6’7" (2.01m). A commercial air intake system keeps the standard twin 600-hp Volvo Penta IPS 800 engines operating at full efficiency as well as keeping the engine room temperature well below the engine manufacturer’s recommendation. All through-hull fittings are mated to ball valves and properly double-clamped per ABYC guidelines.
