Jupiter 43 SF:
Comfy Cabin in a Very Fast CC
The Jupiter 43 SF is a big and, we’re told, a very fast center console when powered with quad 425 Yamahas. We haven’t tested her, but the folks at the factory say she’ll go over 60 mph at WOT. Her cabin has stand-up headroom, a head and shower, and sleeping space for two. Her 12’6” (3.8 m) beam provides a ton of fishing space and the maximum 24-degree deadrise at the transom should keep the ride civilized even at a mile a minute on most days offshore. She does not lack for angling amenities, including a 90-gallon (340 L) livewell, which is one of the largest in the industry.

Manitou 23 Encore SHP:
Fast Hole-Shot and Fuel-Efficient
The Manitou 23 Encore SHP with Evinrude’s E-TEC G2 150 H.O. 2-stroke outboard is a versatile package delivering impressive acceleration that should be great for tow sports. She got on plane in 3.2 seconds, went from 0 to 30 mph in 6.9 seconds and reached 36.8 mph at WOT in our tests, equipped with a 15 ½ x 17 Rebel 3-blade prop. The boat has this performance thanks to her high-torque 2-stroke Evinrude engine. She’s also easy on fuel, achieving 3.8 mpg at a cruise of 18.1 mph and 3.1 mpg at WOT. Evinrude’s digital shift and throttle makes for quiet, effortless control and the iTrim automatic trim system will be a plus for less experienced boaters.

Simrad Cruise is a Price-Point Plotter
w/Multifunction Display Features
Boaters looking to upgrade their helm should keep an eye on some of the latest releases from the major electronics manufacturers. Case in point: The Cruise line of chartplotters from Simrad, which come in three display sizes in 9” (22.86 cm), 7” (17.78 cm), and 5” (12.7 cm). These units all have color screens with wide viewing angles and full cartography through parent-company Navico’s C-MAP division. The Cruise chartplotters can be flush- or bracket-mounted to fit virtually any onboard application and start at $399.

23’2” (7.06 m) Affordable Sportboat
The 23’2” (7.06 m) Rinker Q3 OB has space to gear up for tow sports or wakeboarding, with “Stow-n-Step” seating areas/steps on both sides of the outboard just ahead of the swim platform. The padded seats are tucked under the steps, flipping up easily for use. There’s storage under these seats and they have non-slip backing for sure footing in the down position. The ski tow pylon fits in a center grommet, elevating the tow line well above the outboard. Pricing is competitive.

Back Cove 32:
Downeast Classic for Cruising Couples
The Back Cove 32 combines classic Downeast style in a reasonably-priced design that offers good value, in our opinion. All of the important things are done right. She is NMMA certified to ABYC standards, but money is not spent on lots of expensive costly interior joinery and amenities are not really needed. With a single 425-hp Cummins QSB 6.7 diesel, she’s not about speed, of course, but about range, with a reach of better than 700 NM at 6.7 knots. She is very easy to dock short-handed, thanks to a large rudder and a standard bow thruster (plus an optional stern thruster). When there’s a need to pick up the pace to escape a storm, she can plane off and head for the harbor at 26.0 knots.
