The Jeanneau NC 33 features some smart engineering and design, particularly on the aft deck. A sliding L-shaped lounge can add almost a foot of additional seating room when needed, or it can quickly drop down to become a broad sun lounge. A movable table from the salon converts this area for al fresco dining. An optional canvas awning extends out from the hardtop to provide shade or rain protection for this area.

The Sea Ray SLX 310 Outboard comes standard with an aluminum power tower equipped with an electrically-actuated canvas SureShade and a tow point for watersports. This can be upgraded to a fiberglass hardtop ($19,015), shown here, which has a manually-operated center section that can be opened to let the sun in. The hardtop also has an electrically-powered shade that can shade the aft end of the boat. The control switches to actuate the tower are located within easy reach of the rear cockpit bench seat.

The Dusky 278 Open Fisherman has a transom bracket with an integrated swim platform that optimizes the boat’s performance with twin Evinrude E-TEC G2 150 H.O. outboards, while also allowing a full transom for enhanced safety in the cockpit. The advanced 2-stroke package produced impressive economy, peaking at 2.6 mpg at 26.1 mph for a range of 230 statute miles with the 100-gallon (379 L) fuel capacity. Top speed was 45.4 mph.
