39 MPH Pontoon | 2 World Debuts in Cannes | Boneheaded Boaters - 8/14/2026

115 HP, 39 MPH A pontoon can flex and vibrate at speed if the frame underneath isn't built for it. The Conquest 220 SE runs on Crest's welded box beam chassis, which kept our test boat quiet and controlled at 39 mph with the optional 115-hp Suzuki outboard. One-level deck keeps fore-aft movement simple underway.

DEBUTS THIS SEPTEMBER The new Wellcraft 33 swaps her aft cockpit like a toolkit, with a Lounge Module for entertaining, a Relax Module built around a three-person sunbed, or a Barracuda Module with five rod holders and a 150-liter fish box. The T-Top version debuts at the Cannes Yachting Festival this September.

WALKAROUND DECK This 2023 Pardo 43, based in Miami Beach, is built around an open, walkaround deck: a wide aft sunpad, cockpit dining area, and a straight run to the swim platform with no obstructions along the way. Twin Volvo IPS 650 drives and Skyhook joystick control round out a boat with only 232 hours showing on her engines.

POWER OR SAIL Aquila is heading to Cannes with two world premieres at once: the 35 Sport powercat and the 45 Sail, only the builder's second sailing model. The 35 Sport carries a double-stepped hull with a choice of 300hp Mercury V8 or 400hp V10 outboards, while the 45 Sail carries over 1,350 square feet of upwind sail area.

SEND IT? Captains full-send their boats into trouble, a sailboat fights a ripping current, and a seaplane goes down off Bimini with everyone pulled to safety. A yacht bends a light pole trying to dock, and jet skis cut through flooded city streets. Watch to see who claims the week's worst boating blunder.

TRIALS COMPLETE CL Yachts has a new SUV-style model on the water. The first CLB65 SUV completed sea trials and arrived in Hong Kong this month, ahead of her December premiere at the Hong Kong Boat Show. Twin Caterpillar C18 or Volvo Penta D13 engines push her to 28 knots at half load, with an optional ZF system for docking.
