Cruisers Yachts 42 Cantius:

Best Practices in Construction

cruisers-42cantius-092820.png

The 42 Cantius’ cabin liner provides a uniform finish.

One reason that Cruisers Yachts has been in business for more than a century is because the company stays current with construction techniques on boats like the 42 Cantius. She’s built with resin-infusion for more even saturation of the laminate. The hull bottom, sides and deck are cored, except in areas where fittings pass through the hull. In those spots, the laminate is solid fiberglass. Stringers and bulkheads configured to minimize unsupported areas and liners provide support, structural rigidity and finished appearance. The hull and deck attach in a shoebox-lid-style joint that is chemically sealed and mechanically fastened every 3” (7.62 cm) with stainless steel hardware. More...

Grady-White Express 330:

Options Create a Four-Season Boat

gradywhite-express330-092820.jpg

Here, the Grady-White Express 330 has the optional enclosed helm.

The value of a boat is enhanced the more days it can be used. The Express 330 comes standard with a hardtop and full canvas enclosure, giving great protection. You can also upgrade to the optional AV2® top or the enclosed hardtop for even more solid protection, both offering full height windshields. Adding optional air conditioning at the helm helps makes the Express 330 into a boat that can be used year-round even in the hotter climates. She also sleeps four in the forward V-berth and in the mid-cabin. More...

Premium Outboard Deck Boat

regal-26-obx-092820.jpg

Regal 26 OBX

With a maximum passenger capacity of 12 people, a stepped bottom for improved performance and a fuel-efficient outboard engine, the Regal 26 OBX is a do-anything deck boat. She has the oomph to tow watersports, the size to handle bay chop and the freeboard to keep passengers dry. Unlike many low-priced deck boats, this one is ready to handle bigger bodies of water. The swim platform extends aft on each side of the outboard to provide good space for launching watersports. With the stern drive engine out of the way, there’s increased storage capacity. More...

Outer Reef 700:

Engineered for Low Maintenance

outer-reef-700-092820.png

Outer Reef's construction process allows for a bulkhead-free salon.

The Outer Reef 700 is built from three major molds for structural and watertight integrity. The hull is one piece, the main deck from the pulpit to the swim platform is the second and the flying bridge is the third. The only things not included in the process are the hardtop and instrument console. This lets Outer Reef use an “egg crate-truss construction” that permits an open layout on the main deck with no load-bearing partitions needed. It also means that there are not a number of fiberglass modules working and squeaking in rough conditions. More...

Boating News of the Week: Episode #24

BTR-Ep24.jpeg

The largest single type of fiberglass boat built these days is the center console – over 35,000 were sold last year. While they might seem simple and look all the same at a boat show, the fact is that they are all quite different. They are not cheap, and that is why buyers of them would be wise to watch our video “Buyer’s Guide to Center Consoles” narrated by Capt. Steve.
