Fountaine Pajot MY 37

The Fountaine Pajot is a 36’2” (11 meter) cruising catamaran that packs four entertainment zones, three staterooms, two heads and solid performance into sub-40’ offering. Up top, the flybridge has a lounge that wraps around a table to port and the entire area is shaded by a fiberglass hardtop. On the main deck, designers took advantage of the boat’s 16’8” beam to create spacious cockpit and bow seating areas. It’s a seamless transition to the salon thanks to triple glass entry doors. Belowdecks, to starboard is the master suite with separate stateroom and head and there are two guest cabins in the port sponson. Power is a pair of 220-hp Volvo Penta diesel inboards. More...

sailfish_242cc_040620.png

Sailfish 242 CC

With freeboard of 40” (101.6 cm) amidships and 32” (81.28 cm) astern, the Sailfish 242 CC feels like a much bigger boat than others in class. She’s designed for serious fishermen who want to head offshore – and it is this feature that sets the boat apart from many on the market. She comes standard with a livewell and insulated fish boxes, but Sailfish offers option packages to accommodate the angler’s family. The Comfort Package includes seat cushions, bolsters and backrest for the bow, plus removable jump seats at the stern. The Entertainment Package comes with a bow table, ski pylon, a Fusion stereo and LED underwater lights. More...

Boston Whaler 420 Outrage:

A Worthy Ocean Flagship

bostonwhaler_420outrage_040620.png

Boston Whaler 420 Outrage

We would be hard-pressed to find a quad-powered center that handles as well and rides as smoothly as the Boston Whaler 420 Outrage. Whaler’s unibody construction and the 420 Outrage’s V-bottom design with 22 degrees of deadrise at the transom give her a solid feel and a smooth ride. With power provided by four 300-hp Mercury Verado outboards, our test boat weighed 29,388 lbs. (12,786 kg) and she planed in 5.8 seconds. We recorded a top speed of 41.9 knots at 6000 rpm and at a cruising speed of 4500 rpm and 27.7 knots, her range is 287 nautical miles. More...

Hampton Yachts Technical:

Simple Systems for Owner/Operators

hampton-technical_040620.png

The Helm of a Hampton Endurance 720

We looked at the systems on board Hampton Yachts’ Endurance series from the viewpoint of an owner/operator and these vessels have a straightforward appeal. At the helm, three Garmin multifunction displays let a captain choose what he/she wants to see including cameras with different views of the boat. The ability to view the entire side of a boat when docking is a must for owner-operators and Hampton provides flip-out control panels with Twin Disc EC300 series shifts in the side decks at helm level, plus two more stations in the aft cockpit. In the engine room, there’s more than 6’ of headroom. More...

Boaters In Maryland Petition Gov. Hogan

annapolis-harbor_040620.png

Annapolis’ harbor is closed to boating like the rest of the state.

In response to the recent boating ban by Gov. Larry Hogan and the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, many parties affected have turned to petitions in hopes of having the rules changed to allow safe-distance boating on the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries. Two petitions had a total of over 16,000 names as of last weekend, according to an Annapolis newspaper. BoatTEST Members wishing to sign one of these petitions can add their support to those that believe that “stay-at-home” should including “stay-on-your” boat as well. Find the petitions here...

Axopar 28 Cabin for Lease in Fort Myers, Fla.

axopar_28.png

The Axopar 28 Cabin has caught the imagination of people all over the world. We first saw the boat in Sydney several years ago and now its popularity has swept across the U.S..

The Fort Myers, Fla., area is a hotbed of boating activity and we are working there with a boat buyer that has asked us to find like-minded boaters to lease this exciting design. We have tested a sistership of the boat, and Capt. Steve gives her high marks for her seakeeping abilities. It is simply a fun boat to drive and one designed for the whole family. Be sure to see our videos and test, click here...

Boat leasing makes boats affordable, and given the turbulent times we live in, a lease limited to one or two years, is a prudent way to go boating – particularly when it is a boat such as the Axopar 28 Cabin, powered by twin outboards. The down payment and monthly payments are a lot less than buying a new boat, a bit more than club boating, and just right for people who want to do some real boating offshore with twin engines and a cabin.

If you are interested in an Axopar 28 Cabin for this summer on Florida’s West Coast, now is the time to act.
