New Hunt Design w/Outboards
Hinckley Yachts has gotten on the outboard-power bandwagon with its 41’ (12.6 m) hull designed by Hunt. She has classic looks with a trunk cabin, simple house design, reverse transom and three modern outboard engines in an attractive day boat. Most important is the coveted signature cove stripe with Hinckley badge. The hull is laminated with infused epoxy resin and high-tech materials such as carbon fiber and Kevlar. Greenline 40 Hybrid:
Efficient Hull w/Low-Carbon Footprint
The Greenline 40 Hybrid is more than a yacht with hybrid propulsion, according to the builder. Greenline also calls the bottom design a “hybrid hull” that has evolved from the manufacturer’s original displacement hull to one more like Greenline’s low-drag sailboat bottoms, they say. The Greenline 40’s hull is intended to achieve maximum efficiency with low horsepower and to provide a stable ride, and our tests of the boat confirm the vessel’s remarkable efficiency. On the hardtop, solar panels are part of the on-board electrical power management system. More...

The pontoons are powder-coated in a choice of colors along with the fences and rails that have a Diamond-Coat finish. The underside of the deck between the pontoons is covered in aluminum shielding for improved performance and thru-bolted supports secure the 7-ply pressure-treated ¾” (1.91 cm) marine plywood deck to the structure underneath. That deck has a limited lifetime warranty. More...

COVID-19 Killing Boat Shows
But Steelpointe Show Survives
First, it was the Spring boat shows, now Fall shows are being cancelled left and right. In the south, the Tampa show was closed. In New England, first the Newport show closed, and last Thursday, the Norwalk Boat Show announced it was cancelling. In the meantime, boat dealers around the country are recording record sales despite the absence of boat shows.
One notable exception to the Fall show closings is the Steelpointe Yacht & Charter Show, which will be held this September 24 to 27 in Bridgeport, CT. The reason that it is able to carry on, while a show 15 miles down I-95 cannot, is because it is an “Invitation-Only” boat show being held in a brand new marina that was designed with a boat show in mind -- with 16’ wide concreate floating docks. (The builders of the Bridgeport Harbor Marina are the former owners of Bahia Mar, home of the Fort Lauderdale show, and Miami Marina). Unlike other boat shows, Steelpointe is not reliant on hoards of people paying $25 or more for entry tickets, but rather it is limiting its attendance each day to serious boaters actually looking to buy a boat – and, this is a small number, indeed.
BoatTEST is a sponsor of this show and will be inviting all of its Members are a later date.
