Ferretti 550:
Functional Flying Bridge Yacht
While most builders seem to be focused on extra-large flying bridges, Ferretti used a comparatively smaller approach on the 550. It works well with the yacht’s overall styling and still provides plenty of passenger space. Stairs from the cockpit are to starboard and with a small wetbar just ahead. To port, seating wraps from abaft the stairs to the backrest for the helm seat, which is double-wide. The helm is all the way to port and a sunpad fills the forward area just abaft the acrylic windscreen. Her bow has another sunning area forward with a sofa-style lounge on the front of pilothouse. Cruisers Yachts’ 38 GLS is a day boat that can also accommodate a couple for an overnight getaway. There’s space at the helm for a companion to join the captain on a seat that’s 3’1” wide (.96 m) and has flip-down armrests. Fold up the bolster and there’s space for standing. Two 12” (30.48 cm) Simrad multifunction displays provide data for course, conditions, engine systems and health. To starboard, binnacle controls, trim tab buttons and the Mercury joystick for the triple 300-hp outboards are in comfortable reach.
