Sharrow Mass-Producing Propellers
Sharrow Marine is now planning to have a more affordable, mass-produced version by the end of the year – with a price tag of just $2,000. This is 80% less than the first propeller, the MX-1, which were custom-made from a single aluminum billet block in a costly manufacturing process. Going to a cast stainless-steel version will make the innovative propeller available to a far wider audience of boaters who want the latest and most efficient technology. BoatTEST evaluated the Model MX-1 and discovered that it out-performs a standard propeller in virtually every category. We recently interviewed the inventor Greg Sharrow to find out more about this revolutionary prop. See the video...

Monte Carlo 70 Skylounge:
Ultra Luxurious Flying Bridge
The skylounge has spacious seating and access is via interior stairs from the salon instead.
The Monte Carlo 70 Skylounge is aptly named because the third deck on the boat is so much more than a flying bridge. It has ample seating indoors on long lounges, and views are outstanding thanks to the large windshield and side windows. A set of doors aft lead to an outdoor terrace that has space for movable chairs. Given Monte Carlo’s history of customization, fixed furniture can be added. More...

Robalo R242EX:
Hull Design for Improved Performance
Robalo’s Hydro-Lift hull is designed to have an efficiency advantage over competitive center consoles. Like other boats in class, she has a sharp bow entry and a variable deadrise V-bottom that culminates in a 22-degree deadrise at the transom. The difference is that her lifting strakes run full length instead of stopping short of the stern. This provides more lift and should enhance efficiency. More...

Tahoe 700:
Runabout w/ Adult-Sized Bow
Bottom-seat cushions in the bow all secure with a track-and-bead or snap-down straps.
When Tahoe introduced the 700, one area the company focused on in the 21’ (6.40 m) long boat was making the bow more accommodating. Side lounges are 4’ (1.22 m) long, which is noteworthy in a bowrider in this size range, and the backrests are set at a comfortable angle for adults to travel facing forward. Seats are 1’4” (40.6 cm) off the deck and the backrests are 1’5” (43.18 cm) tall. Accessories include four cupholders, two grabrails and a pair of stereo speakers. More...

OXE Marine Outboards Ready to Ship
OXE Marine’s 300-hp diesel outboard
The first OXE300 diesel outboards are ready to ship from Swedish manufacturer OXE Marine. The OXE diesel is designed to be a vital part of marine operations that will help reduce operating costs and minimize the impact on the environment. The OXE300’s powerhead is based on a 3-liter, 6-cylinder twin-turbo automotive diesel engine and produces 300 hp at the prop shaft. The company claims the motor consumes 40% less fuel and has 70% greater range than a comparable gas-burning 300-hp outboard. Emissions reductions of 35% for CO2, 99% for hydrocarbons and 68% of NOx are also claimed.

Boston Whaler 420 Outrage:
Center Console w/ Impeccable Handling
It wouldn’t be surprising for a 42’6” (13.0 m) boat with a 13’ (3.96 m) beam and a to feel a little sluggish during maneuverability testing given all that windage and an as-tested weight of 29,388 lbs. (13,330 kg). However, that wasn’t the case, and the Boston Whaler 420 Outrage was nimble, coming around a full 360 degrees in 30 seconds and only three boat lengths at cruising speed. Regardless of the maneuver, she maintains a comfortable 11-degree roll into the turn. More...
