Boston Whaler 240 Vantage:

Multi-Faceted for Fishing and Family

boston-whaler-240v-121720.jpg

Boston Whaler 240 Vantage

Boston Whaler’s Vantage series is targeted at family boating and the new 240 is a dual console that can serve many masters. For fishing, she has a 13-gallon (49.2 L) livewell in the stern, rod holders, a rod locker under the port cockpit lounge, a stainless-steel toerail and a macerated in-deck fish box. For entertaining and cruising, she has one of the easiest fold-out seats to deploy across the stern, plus a convertible forward lounge to port and deep seating in the bow. A single 350-hp Mercury Verado outboard pushed our test boat to a top speed of 47.7 mph at 5900 rpm. Best cruise came at 4000 rpm, where she ran 26.9 mph and got 2.5 mpg giving her a range of 252 statute miles. She planed in just 3.9 seconds, meaning there’s plenty of pop for getting a skier or boarder out of the hole. More...

Editor's Report

Chris-Craft 31 GT:

Improving the Chris-Craft DNA

chris-craft-31-gt-121420.png

Chris-Craft’s Launch 31 GT oozes status. From her compound curves, tumblehome, teak accents, and up-market bone white upholstery, she looks about as patrician as one can get in a 31’ (9.4 m) runabout. She’s expensive, but that’s what happens when a builder has to make molds within molds to create a look that no other boat on the market can match on this side of the Atlantic. And that is definitely part of her appeal – she’s not for everyone. Truth be told, varnished mahogany notwithstanding, she’s actually much more elegant than the old Chris-Crafts because fiberglass can be made in shapes not possible, or practical, in wood. And that’s not the only advantage of the new Chris-Crafts.

sunseeker-90-ocean.png

Sunseeker Yachts’ first 90 Ocean is being prepared for launch and completion. She is scheduled to be presented to the public at the Dusseldorf Boat show that has been postponed until April 2021. Among the features on the superyacht are a beach club with a built-in barbecue, a shower and adjustable sunbeds. Available options include a laser projector, 140” (355.6 cm) cinema screen and a spa pool. As you can see in the image above, she’s not like the Sunseekers of yore. Join Capt. Steve as he takes a video look at this new megayacht.

Features Video

Maritimo X60:

Flexible Stern Cool Factor

maritimo-x60-121720.png

One feature that sets apart the Maritimo X60 from other express yachts is her configurable stern. The Australian manufacturer offers the boat with a tender garage, an aft cabin or a “beach club” that was on our test boat. Inside this space are director’s chairs that are basically at sea level, so two people can relax and look out at the water from a unique vantage point. It’s all about living large and being the envy of the fleet.

Formula 430 Super Sport Crossover:

Luxury Express Yacht w/Open Bow

formula-430ssc-121420.png

One of the features that set apart Formula’s 430 Super Sport Crossover when the boat was first introduced was the wraparound seating area in the bow. The walkway to the bow is offset to port, which let Formula create a large lounge that wraps around to starboard. Two tables can be lowered individually to create a partial or full sunlounge that’s recessed, and the backrest encircles the area. It’s one of four social zones on the main deck of the boat and they’re all on the same level. With 1,600 hp bolted to the transom, the 430 SSC tops 60 mph.

BoatTEST Reports: Episode #33

How to Afford Your Dream Yacht

Unknown-1.jpeg

The word we are getting from virtually all boat builders is that their production is sold out for the next six months – much of it at retail. Two popular brands that we know of have every boat they can build next year already purchased by dealers. This means for the summer boating season you want, decisions should be made now. This week, BoatTEST Reports lets you in on some of the latest new boats launched, and a lot more. More...
