Last month, the Yamaha Marine Helm Master EX for single outboard engine control won the coveted NMMA Innovation Award in the outboard category. It includes a joystick for maneuvering, plus an autopilot, electric power steering and other advantages. We have not tested it, but Yamaha has made a demonstration video which we recommend seeing.

Boat Club in Florida

Last week, we announced the evolution of the BoattestLEASING program into the Sovereign Boat Club. Currently, the club has high-quality boats in two locations — Riviera Beach and St. Pete, Florida. Members have unlimited use of the boats for reasonable annual dues and monthly maintenance fees. All expenses are included, except fuel. The boats in the club are both offshore vessels and are insured for up to 100 miles off the coast. Overnight cruising is permitted, and boats are reserved for full days at a time – not partial days. Plans for 2021 call for the addition of six more boats in locations around the Florida coast. Membership in each boat is limited, so the early adopters will get the ground-floor benefits.
