Galeon 470 Sky:

A Flybridge That Converts to an Express

galeon_470sky_040620.png

Galeon 470 Sky

Galeon Yachts’ 470 Sky is a flybridge yacht that can convert to an express model with a power hatch that slides aft over the upper helm and seats, covering the entire area. The flybridge extends aft over the cockpit, providing shade and side decks open to expand the beam from 14’4” (4.37 m) to 18’7” (5.66 m). For entertaining, triple glass doors framed in stainless steel pull aside, creating a 6’ (1.83 m) wide passage between the cockpit and galley. Belowdecks, she has a full beam master, plus VIP and guest cabins. More...

In order to make this information as all-inclusive as possible, we are asking all of BoatTEST Members to tell what is happening in your area so Capt. Steve can report on it.

Grady-White Freedom 235:

A Dual Console for a Fishing Family

grady-white_freedom235_040620.png

Grady-White Freedom 235

Grady-White’s Freedom 235 is a dual-console designed for an active family, and in our opinion is one of the most user-friendly models in its class. The windshield is high which keeps things cozy behind it. The head in the port console has a corner-cut hatch to facilitate entry and exit. The starboard aft swim platform extends just past the outboard leg, is angled slightly outward, and has a proper 4-step re-boarding ladder, unlike some other boats in class. For cruising, she has a fold-away transom seat, and can be optioned with a port side electromechanical extended lounge in the cockpit, a wet bar to starboard, and filler cushions forward. For the fishing family, bolsters encircle the cockpit, there are insulated, self-draining compartments in the transom and forward, 4 rod holders, and a livewell is optional. More...

Hatteras GT70:

The Epitome of an Offshore Battlewagon

hatteras-gt70_040620.png

Hatteras GT70

Hatteras’ GT70 is a bluewater battlewagon born in the heart of rugged offshore big game fishing – North Carolina. We tested her with optional 2,600-hp MTU diesels in 3’ to 5’ seas and she was a beast, cutting through the waves with her sharp bow entry and smacking down spray with her broad flared bow. In rough offshore conditions, there is no substitute for displacement. We hit a top speed of 41.5 knots at 2450 rpm and at that speed, her range is more than 420 nautical miles. Even though her primary mission in life is fishing, remember that she is a luxurious convertible, and her accommodations set her apart from other boats in class. More...

tige-covid_040620.png

Tigé boats personnel have stepped up to help.

Wakesports boat builder Tigé Boats, which is based in Abilene, Texas, has announced that it will be making face shields to support the local medical community. The company says it will be making up to 500 pieces of the protective equipment per day to help medical professionals treat victims of the Covid-19 pandemic. “We want to do something for the community for first responders,” Tigé’s Jean Wagner said in a statement. The company will also be donating gowns and assist in any way it can as long as it can, according to its spokesperson.

Monte Carlo Yachts Part 4:

Interior Modules for Fast Construction

mcy-4.png

Monte Carlo Yachts technicians build an interior component.

One of the ways that Monte Carlo Yachts sets itself apart as a custom builder is its Interior Module approach to manufacturing the indoor parts of the boat. The entire interior of the vessel is built on the factory floor in modules that are then installed at a later date. This lets technicians pay attention to minute details and ensure a fit between parts that meet tolerances of about 1 mm. The scheme saves hundreds of manhours of labor, and increases the quality of equipment installation. This is the primary reason MYC has one of the fastest builds in the industry. More...

Axopar 28 Cabin for Lease in Fort Myers, Fla.

axopar_28.png

The Axopar 28 Cabin has caught the imagination of people all over the world. We first saw the boat in Sydney several years ago and now its popularity has swept across the U.S..

The Fort Myers, Fla., area is a hotbed of boating activity and we are working there with a boat buyer that has asked us to find like-minded boaters to lease this exciting design. We have tested a sistership of the boat, and Capt. Steve gives her high marks for her seakeeping abilities. It is simply a fun boat to drive and one designed for the whole family. Be sure to see our videos and test, click here...

Boat leasing makes boats affordable, and given the turbulent times we live in, a lease limited to one or two years, is a prudent way to go boating – particularly when it is a boat such as the Axopar 28 Cabin, powered by twin outboards. The down payment and monthly payments are a lot less than buying a new boat, a bit more than club boating, and just right for people who want to do some real boating offshore with twin engines and a cabin.

If you are interested in an Axopar 28 Cabin for this summer on Florida’s West Coast, now is the time to act.
