VirtualBOATSHOW.com Goes Live!

virtual-boat-show.png

Boating is becoming the Great Escape!

Because most Spring boat shows have been cancelled or delayed worldwide, yesterday at noon we created an online Boat Show called VirtualBOATSHOW.com.

Today, everyone and their neighbor claims to have a “virtual boat show” – but of course they are only the boats that they are selling. There is only one true boat show that has the videos of over 2,700 boats – and over 3,500 boats on display.. So, you can inspect the boats with our knowledgeable, objective captains as your guides – instead of a salesperson.

Now, people that planned on attending the Spring boat shows can do the next best thing from the comfort of their home. VirtualBOATSHOW.com includes all of the boats, test numbers, videos, and Captain’s Reports available on BoatTEST.com, plus it displays hundreds boats that we have not tested or inspected, giving their basic specs, pictures, and sometimes even their builders’ commentary.

VirtualBOATSHOW.com also includes used boats, and most have videos and Captain’s Report inspections that we made when the boats were new.

The price of admission is simply to be a logged-in Member of BoatTEST.com. If you are not a member, it costs nothing to join.

Galeon 470 Sky:

Express w/Mini-Flybridge

galeon-470sky-042020.png

Galeon 470 Sky

Many people look at the Galeon 470 Sky and see an express or coupe-style boat. That’s because her flybridge helm can be lowered and the seats fold in for the entire upper area to be covered. It gives the yacht a sportier profile and maintains the boat’s versatility for the captain and passengers to be aloft when weather permits. For more innovation, she has fold-out bulwarks in the cockpit that expand her beam from 14’4” (4.37 m) to 18’7” (5.66 m). Powered by twin 600-hp Volvo Penta diesel inboards, she runs 30 knots at 3100 rpm and best cruise is at 2400 rpm where she ran 22 knots and had a range of 205.9 nautical miles. More...

At Ground-Zero for COVID-19,

Recreational Boating is Opened

tri-state-1.png

We applaud the governors in the Tri-State area for letting families get back on the water.

The governors of Connecticut, New York and New Jersey – the epicenter of the COVID-19 in the world – recently announced that marinas, boatyards and manufacturers of recreational boating equipment will be open. This is a profound development because the governors of these states have otherwise imposed strict lockdowns. In announcing the opening up of boating, the governors have tacitly endorsed the concept that boating is an essential activity to help Americans survive the pandemic. The new rules are for personal use only, as long as strict social distancing and sanitization protocols are followed. This is the key, and thoughtless boaters crowding launch ramps will only jeopardize the relaxed rule. More...

Yamaha VX Cruiser HO:

Luxurious Personal Watercraft

Yamaha VX Cruiser HO

A personal watercraft that measures just under 11’ (3.35 m) is a big machine so a rider wants to feel like he’s in control. Yamaha’s VX Cruiser HO is 131.5” (334 cm) long with a 48” beam (122 cm) with an as-tested weight of 999 pounds (453 kg). On the right handlebar, it has the typical throttle trigger, but there are also buttons for the Cruise Assist system and another one that puts the machine into a no-wake-speed mode. On the left handle are the red engine stop button plus Yamaha’s RiDE technology braking system. Even when running at a top speed of 65 mph, we squeezed the lever on the left handlebar and the boat slowed in a controlled manner. Around the docks, the trigger on the right handlebar is forward and the left one is reverse. More...

Tiara Sport 38 LS:

Outboard Efficiency with Inboard Torque

tiarasport-38ls_042020.png

Tiara Sport 38 LS

The Tiara Sport 38 LS is the result of a collaboration among Tiara Yachts, Seven Marine and Volvo Penta. When Tiara decided to get into the outboard segment, the manufacturer wanted to give its customers who were used to inboards the same power and feel when maneuvering their boats around the docks. The result was two 527-hp Seven Marine motors equipped with Volvo Penta Duoprop drives. Having six propeller blades per motor provided instant response. Plus, the Volvo Penta joystick put all the control at the captain’s fingertips. Around the docks, in 15- to 20-knot crosswinds, we put the boat wherever we wanted with just the joystick, without having to touch the bow thruster. More...
