Galeon 640 Fly:

Designed for the Owner/Operator

Galeon 640 Fly

During our test of the Galeon 640 Fly, we took note of many features that should appeal to an owner/operator. At the flybridge helm, there are three multi-function displays that can be set up to deliver whatever information the captain wants. Many boats in class would have one screen at the upper station, never mind three. The bow and stern thrusters came in handy when we pulled out of a slip in windy conditions – and eliminated the need for costly pod drives with a joystick. At the lower helm, the captain and a companion traveled in high-backed bucket seats that adjusted three ways electrically and given all the glass surrounding them, we appreciated the air-conditioning vents pointed at them. For short-handed docking, the side window next to the lower helm opened, putting the amidships cleat in reach.

Note the extended flying bridge that adds a remarkable amount of space topside for entertaining or tender storage, and provides cover for the aft deck. This is a lot of added functionality for not much added expense in construction. More...

BENETEAU Oceanis Yacht 62:

Easy Sailing in Luxurious Confines

beneteau_oceanis62_041320.png

Beneteau Oceanis Yacht 62

The flagship of BENETEAU’s sailing fleet, the Oceanis Yacht 62 provides luxurious accommodations and is one of the easiest-handling boats in class. A standout feature is the optional hardtop that protects the cockpit. It has integrated skylights and forward, a dodger can be added. The cockpit has dual settees around a table, plus a hideaway galley with a sink and grille. Power comes from a 170-hp Yanmar diesel and docking is facilitated by a Quick bow thruster and optional stern thruster. A garage in the transom has space for an 11’5” (3.4 m) tender. Belowdecks, the boat is available in a three- or four-cabin layout. More...

The 13’1” (3.98 m) Boston Whaler 130 Super Sport

Boston Whaler re-designed its 130 Super Sport last year and, in the process, created comfortable bucket seating as an option. The standard boat comes with a fiberglass bench seat with a bottom cushion for the driver, which itself is an upgrade over the old teak bench. The two individual bucket seats clamp to the bench. Other options include a portable cooler and a foredeck cushion. More...

Understanding Echo Sounders

Echo sounders that provide depth information were at the forefront of modern electronics.

Echo sounders were one of the original electronic systems, developed some 60 years ago. Today, with the advent of GPS positioning and sophisticated electronic charts, the sounder remains a great navigation tool that can provide a vital backup to other electronic systems. More...

Monte Carlo Yachts Part 5:

The Deck

mcy-part5_041320.png

A deck at Monte Carlo Yachts is finished as its own piece before it is installed on the hull.

At Monte Carlo Yachts, all major fiberglass components are made with a resin-infusion process and reinforced with carbon fiber and Kevlar. This increases structural reliability and helps reduce weight. The underside of the deck is finished in composite insulation and features extensive use of pre-assembled components including electronics and operational systems to ensure better workmanship and reliability. btleasing-041320.png

Escaping to a comfortable boat – with social distancing – on the Pursuit DC266 is an ideal alternative during the COVID-19 lockdown.

One of BoattestLEASING’s new leaseholders said it better than we ever could: “The dual console is a true family boat, and that together with a low-cost lease, is a winning combination.” With days heating up in South Florida, the Pursuit DC266 that BoattestLEASING is offering in St. Petersburg is coming under increasing demand. The 2020 Pursuit is located in the newly-renovated, state-of-the-art Maximo Marina, which has a common-sense protocol for social distancing and safe boating. For more information...
