New Captain's Report

Riviera 4800 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition:

Premium Express Yacht w/a Helm to Match

riviera-4800-060820.png

The Riviera 4800 Sport Yacht Platinum Edition’s helm rivals those found on its 72-footer.

If a boat manufacturer is going to create a platinum edition of an express yacht, it would stand to reason that the boat would have a premium level helm. On the Riviera 4800 Sport Yacht Platinum edition, the builder embraces new technology, using a glass-style dash with twin 12” (30.48 cm) multi-function displays in good sightlines for the captain. Note that the dash is low, maximizing forward visibility. Down low are a dedicated engine display and the panel for the standard C-Zone digital switching. The captain and a companion travel in premium high-backed seats finished in leather and Alcantara suede.  More...

Red Snapper Season Dates Announced

red-snapper-060820.png

Red Snapper is one of the most popular fish for recreational anglers to go after and a four-day season is seen as a step in the right direction.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has announced the dates for the 2020 South Atlantic Red Snapper fishing season. Anglers can harvest the popular fish from July 10 – 12 and on July 17. It may not seem like much, but four days is actually more than recreational fishermen were expecting. “Today’s announcement of a four-day South Atlantic red snapper season should be seen as a step forward not a step back,” Jeff Angers, president of the Center for Sportfishing Policy, said in a statement. Bon appetit!

Aft facing seats in the Freedom 325’s cockpit extend into lounges, adding cruising versatility.

Grady-White has been at the forefront of advancing the comfort and cruising features in dual-console models. The Freedom 325’s cockpit is a good example, with two seats that convert to chaise-style lounges with the push of a button. Additionally, the patented aft bench that pulls out of the transom is among the easiest to deploy and stow away, according to our test captain. In the bow, adults sit with the stainless-steel grab rail up to their shoulders, which keeps both them and small children safer. More...
