Brief Summary

The big news for 2012 is the addition of an attractive-looking hardtop option on the Tiara Coronet 3100. It has a sliding sunroof as well as an optional sun shade that extends aft over part of the cockpit. The Coronet model 3100 was introduced by Tiara last season on the same proven hull as the popular 3100 Open sport yacht. While the Coronet’s layout, design, and amenities are focused more on entertaining and day-boating, the moderate-V hull is fully capable of offshore work. There is even a queen bed below for an occasional sleepover.

The Mission

The 3100 Coronet is a high-end day boat built for an owner who seeks a quality yacht capable of handling offshore conditions -- and stay dry -- with cruiser-class aplomb. Further, by making the beam 12'6" (3.81 m) it has a lot more room inside than much bigger day boats costing much or more -- 10 people can sit in the cockpit and another five people can sit on the bridge deck. This is a boat for a big party, both under way and at anchor.
Even though she is built with state-of-the-art techniques and high-quality materials Tiara is able to offer it for less money than some blue ribbon names we can think of. The Slikkers have remembered the "3 Ps" -- Performance, Packaging, and Price.

The radar arch is low and attractive and makes a good place to hang a canvas top if wanted. There are two canvas soft top options. Notice how the cockpit is protected from stray by the wide beam, bow flare and the side widows.

The helm console has conventional controls for the standard twin 375-hp Crusader gas engines. We like the optional "Flag Blue" console molding which is easy on the eyes and will reflect less glare in the windscreen. "Carbon" is standard. The teak wheel is optional.
The Coronet’s helm console is designed to allow the operator to stand or sit when the boat is underway, the latter position made available by the boat’s level attitude when running. The helm position features a double-wide, adjustable seat behind a tilt wheel, surrounded on three sides by large, unobstructed window areas for an open view all around. Tiara uses the same composite for the windshield frame on the Coronet that it does on its larger-sized yachts.

The floor layout of the 3100 Coronet.

The L-shaped companion settee is set at the same height as the helm so that guests and operator are at the same eye level to facilitate conversation and sea the action outside the boat. Note that there is the option of going through the windshield to the foredeck. Molded in steps cannot be seen in this photo. The sidedecks are adequately wide for traversing forward as well

From the companionway to the swim platform the Coronet’s sole is the same level, something that new guests will appreciate.

The cockpit offers roomy seating for 10, all at the same level, taking full advantage of the boat’s 12’6” beam. Note the padded bolster atop the transom door, the teak-tread boarding steps integrated to port and starboard and the standard synthetic Sisal Seagrass carpeting.

A transom door leads to a 40-inch-wide integrated swim platform with teak inserts and a three-step ladder nested into a center compartment with integrated hand-holds built into the cover.

Cabin Highlights

Tiara 3100 Coronet

The 3100 sleeps two below in a cabin with a queen-sized bed. The classy and traditional teak and holly sole is optional, but a solid teak sole comes standard.

The bed hides a huge bulk storage area with twin gas-assisted lifts. We think all boats should equipped like this to maximize this valuable space in the bow.

A hanging locker contains the Coronet’s breaker panel and cabin stereo controls.

The wet head is decent-sized for a day cruiser. Note the track on the overhead so the shower curtain (left) can be drawn around to minimize the mess. Guests wanting privacy when showering will appreciate both the wet head and the curtain.

Tiara 3100 Coronet

The minimal galley offers good headroom, counter and storage space. The microwave and the optional refer drawer are at right.

Amenity Highlights

One of two flat-screen television options available on the Coronet, the other offered bedside in the cabin.

Aft of the helm seat is a drawer-style refrigerator beneath a food prep area with integrated sink and electric grill. Everything you need for a picnic is right in this console.

Tiara 3100 Coronet

The Coronet’s engine compartment is readily accessible in its location beneath the cockpit sole. The engine room is specially insulated to dampen engine sound for quiet cruising topside.

Tiara 3100 Coronet

The Coronet’s new hardtop option for 2012 provides permanent overhead protection yet features a retractable sunroof that opens a full one third of the canopy. Best of all, the new hardtop blends harmoniously with the graceful curves on this yacht.

With a new hardtop option to extend the Coronet’s comfort range in 2012, discriminating day cruisers have yet another good reason to entertain a long, hard look at the new 3100 from Tiara. Speaking of entertaining, the options available for enhancing that use are impressive; however, the standard Coronet, priced at $272,000, has plenty to offer those who value quality and style in a boat built for fun.

Note the graceful, sweeping curve to the windshield, the rounded stern quarters and the reverse transom. There is lots of utility and beauty in the Cornet 3100 in our opinion.
