Windy Boats SR38
The new Windy 38 is the third model in the Swedish company’s new SR Sports Boat Line and the sixth new WINDY model introduced in the past three years. She can function as a dayboat, weekender or as a yacht tender, and has the eye appeal that some Nordic designs lack.
One of the major features is the sliding glass doors port and starboard, giving her the look of a svelte coupe while at the same time making it possible to button up the helm, galley and dining/lounging area in inclement weather.
In the open position the doors seem to disappear, creating the feeling of a very open boat. This is enhanced when the sliding glass roof is open. Stand-up paddle boards, Fliteboards, fishing rods and bicycles can be arranged on the roof racks, and a ladder makes access easier.
The SR 38 is also available in diesel inboard configuration, providing improved access from the swim platform.
The dining table folds for easy passage and opens to seat 4 to 6 for lunch.
The cockpit of the Windy SR38 has been designed with both helmsman and passengers in mind, with all the navigational necessities easily at hand and in reach either sitting or standing. The galley area is just aft.
The galley gets lots of fresh air from the sliding glass doors, but can be enclosed in rain or cool weather.
The cabin can be specified with the fixed sofa option shown here, or alternatively with a queen berth. A variety of interior fabrics and colors are available, with stylings by U.S. firm Design Unlimited.
The furniture is stylish but also highly functional, featuring equipped hanging rails and drawers tailored with fitted liners for easy organization.
Available canvas allows buttoning up the cabin area in inclement weather or for overnights.
Large sunlounges fore and aft welcome sun worshippers or moon watchers.
The Sport Series will be built at the company’s main production yard on the east coast of Sweden. The company notes a state-of-the-art paint booth is included, allowing buyers to specify a wide variety of hull colors.
The company reports WOT speeds are around 44 knots with 2 x Volvo-Penta D6 440’s and around 46 to 48 knots with the 2x Mercury 400s, or the 2x Yamaha XTO 450 outboards.
