Boat Inspection

One of the things you first notice about any Yamaha boat is the turnkey profile it presents. With a short list of optional equipment, the cutting-edge 255 FSH Sport H is ready to deliver exciting on-water action.

Bow

With extended seating forward, the wide bow area is well-suited for taller guests and family members. Fully forward is a dedicated anchor and line locker with a gas-assisted ram for easy opening.

The turn-and-locking hatch cover is rubberized non-skid.

Yamaha 255 FSH Sport H danforth anchor

The Danforth anchor easily fits in its slot and is held in place by keepers. Yamaha has provided a notch for the anchor rode to pass through.

Knowing that there can never be enough storage aboard, Yamaha has utilized every spare inch of space on the 255 FSH Sport H, as seen with the large hatch in the bow deck for access to a handy storage space.

Comfortable seating is found in the bow area.

Other bow features include an insulated 18-gallon (68 L) livewell to port, forward-facing seating for two in front of the console, rod holders to either side, a storage cabinet to starboard, and a bow filler casting platform/table. The casting platform has an insulated fishbox on the starboard side.

Yamaha 255 FSH Sport H cushions and table

Yamaha also took care of the comfort factor by providing cushions and a table for those times when family and friends are aboard. Note the recessed grabs on either side of the lounges.

Console and Helm

Yamaha’s advanced technology is not limited to its engineering prowess but expands to its innovative use of space as shown in the forward half of the ‘convertible’ console which smoothly transforms the two-person seat into a single-person changing room, head, or additional storage.

One easy motion is all it takes to lift the front half of the console seat for use as single person changing room, head, or additional storage. In addition, there is access to the back of the helm for servicing the electronics and other equipment. Note the trio of rod holders at the base of the hardtop.

The aforementioned Connext® Information System is one of many features offered at the helm. Just to the left of the stainless wheel, with steering knob and tilt base, is found the one-button start/stop control. The throttle controls are to the right of the wheel as well as the row of switches, which light up when activated. A cell phone holder is also provided along with a 12-inch Simrad electronics screen.

The finished and powder-coated fiberglass hardtop provides nice shade for the driver and has a row of rocket launchers, a glass windshield, fore and aft spreader lights, cutouts for longer rods stowed in side-mounted rod holders, and handholds to either side with finger-grips for ease of use. A double-wide helm seat easily converts to a bolstered leaning post with contoured backs and just below the seat is space for a large cooler which is easily secured there. In addition, the helm also features a locking compartment and an open one.
