Boat Inspection
One of the things you first notice about any Yamaha boat is the turnkey profile it presents. With a short list of optional equipment, the cutting-edge 255 FSH Sport H is ready to deliver exciting on-water action.
Bow
With extended seating forward, the wide bow area is well-suited for taller guests and family members. Fully forward is a dedicated anchor and line locker with a gas-assisted ram for easy opening.
Knowing that there can never be enough storage aboard, Yamaha has utilized every spare inch of space on the 255 FSH Sport H, as seen with the large hatch in the bow deck for access to a handy storage space.
Console and Helm
Yamaha’s advanced technology is not limited to its engineering prowess but expands to its innovative use of space as shown in the forward half of the ‘convertible’ console which smoothly transforms the two-person seat into a single-person changing room, head, or additional storage.
The aforementioned Connext® Information System is one of many features offered at the helm. Just to the left of the stainless wheel, with steering knob and tilt base, is found the one-button start/stop control. The throttle controls are to the right of the wheel as well as the row of switches, which light up when activated. A cell phone holder is also provided along with a 12-inch Simrad electronics screen.
The finished and powder-coated fiberglass hardtop provides nice shade for the driver and has a row of rocket launchers, a glass windshield, fore and aft spreader lights, cutouts for longer rods stowed in side-mounted rod holders, and handholds to either side with finger-grips for ease of use. A double-wide helm seat easily converts to a bolstered leaning post with contoured backs and just below the seat is space for a large cooler which is easily secured there. In addition, the helm also features a locking compartment and an open one.
Cockpit, Transom, and Fishing Amenities
Designed and engineered for exciting fishing opportunities, the 255 FSH Sport H has a 111-gallon fuel tank and is powered by a pair of 1.9L, supercharged, high output marine engines. Known for its patented jet propulsion expertise, Yamaha has replaced it 1812cc, high output motors used in past model with this 1898cc, four-stroke, four-cylinder, 16-valve powerhouse possessing a combined 500-hp.
Along with its new power, this boat boasts in excess of 25 rod holders/storage, four under each gunwale, with combination drink/rod holders, convenient tackle storage drawers, a cockpit depth of 33-inches, an aft casting platform which easily transforms into a seating area, integrated swim platform, 30-gallon, aerated livewell, and muti-level transom with cushioned seatbacks and a stern lounge.
Summary
Yamaha is far from the typical brand and with its innovative approach to design, engineering, and purpose-built boats, the company continues to offer its products equipped with all that an owner would want. With the 255 FSH Sport H, occupying the flagship position of its center console line up, this jet-powered, fully found, speedster fulfills the needs of both fishing enthusiasts and family time out on the water. If a boat like this one is up on your radar screen, it’s time to set up a visit and a sea trial.
Remember, life is better on a boat!
