In 2015, Italian entrepreneur Beniamino Gavio, a passionate Bertram owner, acquired the company. He famously vowed to "make an American boat" again, bringing the brand back to its roots. Under this new leadership, Bertram has been focused on a careful, measured revival. The brand has moved into a new facility in Tampa, Florida, and is slowly reintroducing classic, performance-oriented models like the 34CC, aiming to recapture the essence of what made Bertram a legend in the first place.

The "starboard tack" rule in the Navigation Rules (COLREGS Rule 12) states that a sailing vessel with the wind on her port side must give way to a sailing vessel with the wind on her starboard side. Therefore, the vessel on the port side must alter course to keep clear.
